🍽️ 1,000+ FREE MEALS IN JUST TWO MONTHS!

Over the past two months, we’ve prepared and distributed more than 1,000 free meals to people experiencing hardship across Lake Macquarie. 💛

From BBQ chicken and hearty curries to soups, pastas, enchiladas and plenty more, our incredible Kitchen Team has been absolutely smashing records all year!

Thank you to our world class volunteers who work tirelessly each week cooking and distributing meals to those most in need.

For many of our guests, the meal they receive from NourishEd may be the first hot meal they’ve had all week. But just as importantly, it may also be the first time that week they’ve been treated with kindness and compassion.

Meet Peter

Our ‘Pantry Pete’ is one of NourishEd’s longest-serving volunteers and has become a truly invaluable part of our organisation.

Growing up on a farm, Pete learned the value of hard work from an early age, something that has followed him throughout an incredible working life dedicated largely to helping others.

Pete began his career in nursing, intensive care and nurse education, supporting people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. He later moved into medical sales, where he built a successful 30-year career, before spending another decade working in the disability sector.

When retirement finally came around, Pete wasn't interested in simply putting his feet up. He wanted to stay active, give back and continue making a positive difference in his community.

That desire eventually brought him through the doors of NourishEd and we're incredibly grateful it did.

Pete has become our jack-of-all-trades. He is a key member of our stockroom team, prepares hampers, collects food donations, represents NourishEd at outreach activities and, most importantly, spends time on the floor helping and connecting with our guests.

After a lifetime spent supporting people experiencing illness, disability and hardship, Pete continues to give his time, energy and kindness to others.

He is dependable, hardworking, always willing to lend a hand and, quite simply, beloved by our team.

Thank you, Pete, for everything you have given to NourishEd and the people we support. We're incredibly lucky to have our Pantry Pete. 💛

Volunteering is at the heart of what we do at NourishEd Australia. We are a local, grassroots, volunteer driven charity that depends on the support of our volunteer family to bring our work to life.

Whether it's building relationships with guests on our pantry team, serving drinks in our cafe, picking up food and donations as a courier, providing leadership or offering administrative assistance, there is bound to be a role that best suits you. If you’re unsure, please talk to us!
We have volunteering opportunities during our services (Thur-Sat 9am-2pm) as well as cooking, admin, events, couriers, attending services and more. If you have a skill - we can put it to good use for the community.

It's our Birthday - Celebrate with us!

Celebrate NourishEd’s second birthday and another incredible year of supporting the Lake Macquarie community! Join us at the Toronto Community Hub for a relaxed evening of great food, drinks, entertainment and good company as we celebrate how far we’ve come and raise funds for the year ahead.

Enjoy a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including b**r, w**e, soft drinks, coffee and tea. Your first drink is included with your ticket, with additional drinks available to purchase throughout the evening by cash or card.

Our incredible Volunteer Kitchen Team will also be putting on a delicious spread of meals, canapés and snacks, all included in your ticket.

Most importantly, every dollar raised from the evening will support NourishEd’s work across Lake Macquarie, helping us provide food relief, meals, practical assistance and a welcoming place for people experiencing hardship.

At 7:00pm, our Directors will share a short presentation celebrating some of NourishEd’s achievements over the past year, along with an exciting look at our plans and ambitions for the year ahead.

We’ll also be holding a multi-prize charity raffle, with plenty of great prizes up for grabs! Winners will be drawn at 8:30pm and must be present to claim their prize. Any unclaimed prizes will be redrawn.

Come along, celebrate two years of NourishEd, enjoy a great night out and help us continue making a difference in our community.

PIG DAY OUT - A WAY WE CAN ALL HELP.

Pig Day Out is fast approaching - just over a month to go! 🐷🎉

Make sure you mark it in your calendar because this is one community event you won’t want to miss! Get ready for a fantastic family-friendly day featuring pig racing, face painting, kids’ entertainment, plenty of fun and a great community atmosphere. What better way to spend your long weekend.

All proceeds will support NourishEd and our community support programs.
