It’s looking like it might be a wild weekend along the coast.

Dangerous ocean and surf conditions are forecast over the next few days, especially at more exposed spots.

Large swells and strong winds can create powerful rip currents, coastal erosion, and those heavy, plunging waves (dumpers) that can catch people out.

If you’re heading to the beach, take a minute to check the conditions, stick to patrolled areas where you can, and follow any warning signs in place.

No flags on the beach? That means no lifeguards or lifesavers on duty and it’s not a good time to swim, particularly if you’re not familiar with the area or confident in the water.

For the latest updates, check the BeachSafe app or head to emergency.vic.gov.au.

Stay safe out there, everyone.

Tonight, Lorne gets a bit of its glow back.💡💡

The lights on Lorne Pier are back on, bringing back a familiar view across the harbour.

So, whether you’re coming into town or looking out across the water, it’s one of those little things that makes Lorne feel like Lorne.

The pier and Pt Grey precinct remains closed as major works continue.

Which is exactly how it should be.

A few years of sand build-up on the Fishos beach access ramp, sorted.

If you were heading through Aire River over the weekend, you might've noticed it’s looking a bit clearer.

Our crews were out last week cutting back grass, pulling weeds, and opening it up again.

You probably won’t think twice about it when you’re there... but that's kind of the point.

You forget how good this spot is… until you’re back!

For a while there, our Erskine Park site in Lorne was all mud, debris and clean-up crews.
Now?

Camp chairs. River sounds. A line in the water again.

Great Ocean Road Parks welcomed its first visitors back to this idyllic spot last week, with bookings now open for whenever it takes your fancy.

The perfect tonic for those long weekend back-to-work blues.

Happy Easter from all of us at Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks 🐰

Looks like the Easter Bunny’s done a lap of the coast…
and left a few things behind along the way.

So, if you’re carrying a bit of extra chocolate today, you couldn't be in a better spot
to walk it off, chase a wave, or just stretch out in the sun.

Or don’t. We won’t judge.

Meet Helen, everyone.

She’s 73 and recently discovered our accessible beaches program.
Fair to say… she’s made the most of it.

“Hooting along in the shallows,” as she puts it.

After a few goes with the beach walker, Helen said it’s been a huge morale boost for her.

So, she wanted to email us to say thank you.
But she did have one request:

Could we keep the program running a little longer?
We reckon that’s a pretty good idea.

So we’re extending our accessible beach equipment access at selected locations along the coast through to 30 April.

Because everyone deserves a fine, old time at the beach.
And if that includes hooting along in the shallows, even better.

One of our coast's best walks is about to get even better.

Upgrades will kick off next week on the stretch between Wye River and Kennett River, a 4.7km section that will eventually form part of the Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail.

Think more stable footing, clearer paths and an easier, safer way to take it all in: the cliffs, the ocean, and that feeling of being proper out there.

Crews will be on the job through late June, with some short track closures at times. Signage will be in place to guide you, so keep an eye out and give the crews a wave (and a bit of space).

Big progress down at the new Twelve Apostles Visitor Centre. We are pumped to run this amazing new precinct later in the year. Watch this space for more early looks as construction continues.

Some good news out of Wye River!

After a bit of a battering earlier this year, the boardwalk and fishing platform are ready to roll again, and just in time for Easter.

If you’re down this way over the weekend, take the long way round… and keep an eye out for a few paw prints along the way. 🐰

🌏 Earth Hour | Saturday 28 March, 8:30–9:30pm

This year marks 10 years of Earth Hour, WWF ’s global initiative encouraging action for nature.

Turning off the lights is symbolic, but it’s our everyday choices that make the biggest difference. Earth Hour is a reminder that small actions, when taken together, can create real change.

Join us in taking a moment to reflect, reset and recommit to caring for Country, not just for an hour, but for the future.
