๐Ÿ Yesterday we celebrated official opening of the new cricket nets at Torquayโ€™s Banyul Warri Fields, supporting Surf Coast Cricket Club, growth of the game and healthy community activity.
๐Ÿ The nets have four fully enclosed synthetic pitches, space for wicket-keeping practice and a power source for a bowling machine.
๐Ÿ We designed and delivered them in close liaison with the Surf Coast CC, as well as providing $100,000 funding.
๐Ÿ‘ Thanks to the Victorian Government for having underpinned the project with an allocation of $379,500 through the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, Cricket Victoria for $40,000 funding and the cricket club for its $3,000 contribution.

๐Ÿšง Road resurfacing works on Fischer Street will start Monday 19 October and are expected to finish by early December.

Weโ€™ll be resurfacing the section between Beach Road and Zeally Bay Road, next to Taylor Park.

โš ๏ธ During construction, alternating lane closures will be in place along this section of Fischer Street, with southbound traffic closed for a period and a detour in place. The closure will then switch to northbound traffic, with a detour in place.

Please take care around the work site, follow traffic signs and allow extra time for your journey while works are underway.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ Weโ€™re upgrading Spring Valley Bike Park to give riders of all ages and abilities more opportunities to build their skills, try new challenges and progress at their own pace.

Once complete, the park will feature:
๐ŸŸข 3 easy trails
๐Ÿ”ต 4 intermediate trails
๐Ÿ”ด 2 difficult trails

๐Ÿงฐ Works will start in mid October and are expected to be complete by late December. During the works the bike park will be closed.

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿšถ Runners and walkers wore touches of green to mark World Mental Health Day.
We partnered with Torquay parkrun to support the day and its 2026 theme ๐“๐จ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐–๐ž ๐“๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž, encouraging healthy activity, connections and conversations.
Cr Joel Grist shared a message as participants gathered at the start line, and Deputy Mayor Tony Phelps and councillors Liz Pattison, Mike Bodsworth and Phoebe Crockett also attended.
Mental Health Month aims to reduce stigma and encourage people to reflect on their mental health and wellbeing, and seek support when they need it.
