The wait is over, Class of 2026! ❤️ Tomorrow night we celebrate our Year 12 Formal!

A very important reminder for all students and families:

📍 Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre, near The Ville Resort-Casino

📸 FORMAL ARRIVALS
⏰ 4:45pm – 5:45pm

Please make sure your family and guests are at the arrivals on time! The first student arrivals will begin at 4:45pm, and arrivals will finish at 5:45pm.

We want to make sure every student has their family and friends there to cheer them on, take photos and celebrate this special moment! 🎉

🥂 WELCOME DRINK
⏰ Students will be ushered through at 5:50pm for a 6:00pm start.

Students, please make sure you are ready to head inside when directed so we can keep the evening running smoothly.

🎓 Then it’s time to celebrate, Class of 2026!

Get ready for a night full of memories, dancing, awards, laughs and celebrating everything you have achieved. ❤️

🐳 Our students made some very close friends on Year 12 Orpheus (Goolboddi) Island Field Camp! 🐋💙

They got up close and personal with some incredible marine life — so close they could nearly touch them! 😍🐳

What an unforgettable experience for our Year 12s! 🌊☀️

🌊 Year 12 Orpheus (Goolboddi) Island Field Camp 🐠
An incredible opportunity for our Aquatic Practices students to put two years of knowledge and skills into action—from safe recreational practices and sustainability to marine ecology and tropical island and reef ecosystems.

And what an experience! Whales, Manta rays, coral, an array reef fish, blacktip reef sharks, marine invertebrates, sea turtles, marine birds, bandicoots and so much more!

What a sensational experience with an amazing group of young people! 🌴

Year 12 Aviation Excursion
This week, the Year 12 Aviation class were fortunate to travel to the RAAF Base for an excursion. The students spent the day putting theory into practice as they were given tours of aircraft such as the Chinook and Apache attack helicopters by a skilled avionics technician.

They were also given the opportunity to fly a Chinook simulator, the same type of simulator used by RAAF pilots for training. Let’s just say I would only board some students’ aircraft in the near future!!

Not only have all students in this class now achieved their Certificate III in Aviation, but some have also been successful in obtaining their RePL (Remote Pilot Licence)!!

Watch this space for an announcement next week revealing which students have officially become WRSHS’s first drone pilots!

Last week the Yr 11 & 12 Certificate III Business students visited the Townsville Port. Students enjoyed listening to talks about the day-to-day operations of the Port, the behind the scenes Workplace Health and Safety systems and different career paths current employees took to get to their current roles at the Port. Students were amazing representatives of William Ross throughout the presentation, asking insightful questions and partaking in high level discussions about sustainability and the priority of the Port for Townsville's economy.
