Heatley Secondary College staff and students are delighted to welcome new principal, Deon Stripp who joins us from Northern Beaches State High School. As principal, Mr Stripp is committed to fostering strong relationships with families, built on trust, communication and shared responsibility and we look forward to his leadership, vision, and enthusiasm for the college. LOVE BITES PROGRAM – YEAR 7

Our Year 7 students will be taking part in the Love Bites Program on Wednesday, 9 September.

Love Bites is an important program designed to help young people develop the knowledge and skills they need to build healthy, respectful and safe relationships. 🌟

Throughout the program, students will explore topics including:

💭 Managing emotions
🧠 Identifying and challenging stereotypes
🛑 Setting healthy boundaries
❤️ Healthy vs unhealthy relationships
🔐 Coercive control
🤝 Consent
💬 Resolving conflict
📱 Relationships and social media
🌐 Interacting safely online
🛡️ Bullying and being an upstander

These conversations provide valuable opportunities for students to develop confidence, respect and positive relationship skills.

We look forward to supporting our Year 7 students as they learn, discuss and reflect on these important topics.

A great day of learning for our Certificate III Health Services Assistance students at JCU!
Yesterday, our Certificate III Health Services Assistance students had the opportunity to visit JCU and explore the many different pathways available within the health industry.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of engaging sessions across Health Sciences, Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Medicine. They also toured the Clinical Skills area and gained valuable insight into what studying and working in these fields can look like.
A highlight of the day was hearing directly from health professionals and university staff, giving students the chance to connect their classroom learning with real-world health careers.
Experiences like this are invaluable for our students. They broaden their understanding of the opportunities available after school, build aspirations and allow them to see firsthand where their Certificate III in Health Services Assistance could take them.
A huge thank you to everyone at JCU who welcomed our Heatley students and provided such an informative and inspiring day.

For those experiencing a crisis, Lifeline provides a vital connection to help and support, receiving more than 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

Su***de has a devastating and lasting impact on families, friends and communities.

This World Su***de Prevention Day – 10 September, Heatley Secondary College Year 12 student Danielle Dulalia will take part in Out of the Shadows, walking in memory of the 9 Australians lost to su***de every day. ⭐

Danielle is walking to raise funds for Lifeline, helping provide vital su***de prevention services and support to Australians when they need it most.

🙏 Please consider supporting Danielle’s walk and helping her raise funds for this important cause.

Together, we can help shine a light in someone’s darkest moments and remind those struggling that they are not alone. ⭐

🌟 TEACHER AIDE APPRECIATION WEEK 🌟

This week we are celebrating the incredible people who make such a difference every day at Heatley Secondary College!

Our Teacher Aides are an essential part of our school community, supporting students, teachers and staff in so many ways. From classrooms and student support to the Library, offices and everywhere in between, they are always ready to lend a hand, share their knowledge and help make things happen.

Their impact goes far beyond what we see each day. Through their patience, kindness, flexibility, care and dedication, our Teacher Aides help students feel supported, included and empowered to do their best.

Much of what they do happens quietly behind the scenes, but their contribution is seen, valued and deeply appreciated.

Archer’s team, Peninsula, finished in 6th place after four days of tough competition.

We want to take a moment to recognise Sandy and her team for the way they continually support, encourage and guide our Trailblazer students.
It’s so much more than riding bikes! 🚴‍♂️🌿 Through every challenge, every new trail and every adventure, Sandy and the team help our students build confidence, resilience, teamwork and a belief in themselves.
Their patience, encouragement and genuine commitment to our young people make such a positive difference. They create an environment where students feel supported to have a go, push themselves, learn from challenges and, most importantly, enjoy the journey.
We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and passion Sandy and her team bring to Trailblazers. Our students are very lucky to have such fantastic people in their corner! 💙
