In recent weeks the Trafalgar Fire brigade have been called to two kitchen fires here in Trafalgar.
This is a timely reminder to not put something on the stove top and then walk away and being preoccupied by another task.

So itโ€™s important to remind everyone to not leave anything on the stove unattended but also to have on hand a method of extinguishing the resultant fire if it occurs.

๐Ÿ”ฅIn the event of a fire always call 000 first.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Have on hand a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket. The use of these can contain the fire to the point of origin and prevent the total loss of your house.
๐Ÿ”ฅ However your own safety is paramount and if you feel in any danger the best option is to leave and let the fire brigade extinguish the fire.

Ideally for a fat or oil fire, a fire blanket or a Wet Chemical extinguisher is used.

๐Ÿš’ FRIDAY FUNDRAISING UPDATE | 29 DAYS TO GO! ๐Ÿš’

Weโ€™ve passed the halfway mark and the momentum is building.

An incredible $513,232 has now been raised for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Lifeline and the 000 Foundation โ€” supporting cancer research, crisis support, and the mental health and wellbeing of our emergency services community.

And with just 29 DAYS TO GO, itโ€™s time to really turn up the heat.

๐Ÿ”ฅ FUNDRAISING LEADERS

Individuals
๐Ÿฅ‡ Nero the Service Dog โ€“ FRV Portland | $11,001
๐Ÿฅˆ David Jones โ€“ CFA Strathfieldsaye | $8,377
๐Ÿฅ‰ Georgina Laing โ€“ TFS Buckland | $7,423

Brigades
๐Ÿฅ‡ Strathfieldsaye CFA| $16,276
๐Ÿฅˆ Narre Warren Fire Brigade CFA | $11,660
๐Ÿฅ‰ Lilydale CFA| $8,730

Outstanding work from our current leaders โ€” but there are 29 days left to shake up that leaderboard!

To every climber: this is the final month.

Share your page again. Ask your workplace. Rally your station. Hit up your family and friends. Run that fundraiser youโ€™ve been thinking about. Every $10, $20 or $50 donation adds up when our entire climbing community gets behind it.

Weโ€™ve raised $513,232.

Now letโ€™s see what we can do in the final 29 days.

The stairs are getting closer. Letโ€™s finish this together.

On Monday night Trafalgar Fire Brigade attended a joint training with Yarragon Volunteer Fire Brigade and Longwarry and District Fire Brigade, with a visit from Forest Fire Management Victoria's Erica depot.

The training started with a session introducing FFMV and a discussion of how crews from CFA and FFMV can work together if responding to a fire in our surrounding areas or on a Strike Team. CFA members then split into two groups and were able to have a close look at the G-Wagon and Unimog and ask the FFMV staff a lot of questions about these vehicles capabilities. The final session involved a demonstration of how CFA tankers can supply G-Wagons with water, which is a task we may be required to do if we are working together.

Big thanks to Sean, Craig, and Ethan from FFMV for sharing their time and expertise.

The team from Trafalgar CFA is stepping up once again for the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb in 2026.

For the past 8 years, Trafalgar has proudly had representatives take on the challenging climb, and this year welcomes both new and seasoned climbers to the annual event. Together, theyโ€™ll tackle the stairs in full firefighting gear to help raise vital funds and awareness for mental health support, cancer research, and emergency services charities.

The Stair Climb is more than just a physical challenge โ€” itโ€™s about mateship, resilience, and supporting those who protect our communities every day. Trafalgar CFA is proud to continue being part of this incredible event and thanks everyone who gets behind the team through donations, encouragement, and community support.

๐Ÿšจ Grass & Scrub Fire Response ๐Ÿšจ

Thursday 23 April, Trafalgar Fire Brigade responded to a grass and scrub fire along Thorpdaleโ€“Trafalgar Road. On arrival, crews quickly began attacking the main fire, while also responding to a smaller fire that had jumped the road - something not typically expected given today's conditions.

Working alongside our neighbours from P79, Thorpdale CFA and Yarragon Volunteer Fire Brigade, multiple tanker loads of water were deployed to contain the spreading fire. Despite our best efforts, changing conditions and factors beyond our control meant the fire could not be fully extinguished at the time.

As a result, you will likely see or smell smoke in the area. Please remain alert โ€” and if you see flames that are not from a controlled burn or adjacent burn off, act immediately and call 000.

It was disappointing to see a number of drivers continuing to speed past the scene, particularly given the windy conditions and active emergency response.

Please drive safely and support emergency crews working to protect the community.
