Fuel might be expensive right now…BUT here’s one way to look at it…

If you buy a new car, you are not just upgrading your ride; you are helping support local emergency services and giving back to an organisation that meant so much to Simon ❤️

So really, it’s not a splurge… it’s basically a community contribution with cup holders.

Go on, treat yourself. For Simon. For the community. For slightly better fuel economy.

A huge thank-you to Chris and the team at Gippsland Motor Group for their generosity and community spirit.

🚨 Fuel Reduction Burn Notice 🚨

Smoke will be visible in the area today as crews undertake a fuel reduction burn on Scrubby Lane, between Traralgon West Road and Old Melbourne Road.

If you are driving through the area, please be mindful of emergency service personnel working nearby. Slow down to 40 km/h and drive with caution to help keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your patience and support while this important work is carried out to reduce bushfire risk in our community. 🔥🚒

Traralgon West Fire Brigade is getting ready for our Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal Family Fun Day with the Royal Exchange Hotel Cork Club, and we’re inviting local businesses to be part of it.

Each year hundreds of local families attend, and we love giving businesses the chance to promote themselves while supporting an amazing cause.

If you have any branded promo items you’d like to get into the hands of local families; things like drink bottles, pens, stickers, notepads, kids items or vouchers, we’d love to include them in our fishing competition prizes and raffle.

It’s a great way to show community support and get your brand out there while helping raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

If you’d like to get involved, just reply here and we can organise pickup or drop-off.

That’s a wrap 🎁

We have once again been residents of Traralgon Centre Plaza’s Charity Gift Wrapping stall again this year. Our customers kept us on our toes with all sorts of weird and wacky shaped presents right up until closing time tonight.

Thankyou to all who chose to donate to the community groups wrapping this year. We are truly grateful.

On Friday our brigade bid a final farewell to our comrade, mate and Brigade Life Member, Simon Lund.

Lundy’s last lap past Traralgon West Fire Station was a deeply moving tribute to a man who dedicated his life to the service of others and his community. He was not just a firefighter; he was a fierce ally to everyone he met, an advocate for all that was unjust and an all round bloody good bloke.

Lundy was the kind of guy who made an impact; not with grand gestures, but with his integrity, his loyalty, and his sheer determination to make things better for those around him.

Though we say goodbye, his spirit will remain in every person who stands up for what is right, in every mate who watches out for his own and in every act of service that carries his legacy forward.

Rest easy, Lundy. We’ll take it from here.

To Tracie, Cooper, Matilda and Kate, you will always be a part of the Traralgon West Fire Brigade family. Thankyou for sharing Simon with us, and for allowing us to participate in his celebration of life.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our CFA, FRV and District 27 colleagues who allowed us to participate fully in Fridays proceedings. With special thanks to Wayne and the crew at Morwell Fire Brigade and Hayley, Mark and Justin from Yallourn North Urban Fire Brigade We appreciate you all for the part you played in helping us give Simon his final TWest send off.

It is with broken and hearts and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Simon Lund.

Simon was an incredible and selfless man who gave so much of himself to others. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on our Brigade, the Hyland Group, and the wider CFA community.

His loss is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. We are grateful for the time we had with Simon, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to show up for our community and fight for what is right

Our thoughts are with Tracie and Simon’s family during this heartbreaking time.

Rest easy, Simon. Your impact will never be forgotten 🕊️

In lieu of flowers, Simon’s family has kindly requested donations towards the purchase of a Cuddle Bed for Maryvale Private Hospital. To donate, please visit:

Many of you know Traralgon West Fire Brigade member, Simon Lund.

After 26 years of dedicated service with the CFA, Simon, a loving husband, father of three, and cherished colleague, is now receiving palliative care at Maryvale Private Hospital following a terminal cancer diagnosis.

To honour Simon and support others on a similar journey, the Lund family is raising funds for a palliative care Cuddle Bed, a special hospital bed that expands to allow loved ones to lie beside patients, offering comfort and closeness during life's most difficult moments.

Our Brigade and extended CFA family are heartbroken by Simon’s diagnosis, and proud to stand by a family who are still doingg all that they can; even during this most difficult time.

We ask that you please consider donating to help provide this meaningful gift to future patients and families.

🔥 120 in 2024 🔥

120 times in 2024, our Brigade received calls to assist with fires, accidents and alarms.

This does not include the many occasions our members have also rendered inter-agency support for rescues, severe weather events and campaign fires such as the Grampians.

Our members have also given up their time to visit local kindergartens and daycare centres, conduct fire and equipment maintenance, speak to local community groups, attended events to thank our community sponsors, and participate in parades, festivals, the Good Friday Appeal and the Emergency Services Expo.

2024 has been an incredibly busy year for our little Brigade and none of it would be possible without our dedicated members and their families for their sacrifice in the name of community.

Thank-you to each and every one of you.

From the members of the Traralgon West Fire Brigade, we wish you a safe and Happy New Year!

It takes an army to pull off a day like today, but we did it!! Our Brigade Open Day and The Emergency Services Expo went off without a hitch again.

It was so great to see all your wonderful faces and the excitement over our obstacle course and scavenger hunt.

Thank you so much to our amazing Community Education Coordinator Hayley King, Simon Lund, The Hyland Group of Brigades and members from across District 27 who coordinated or came to lend a hand today. You are all beyond incredible.

This is such an exciting event that we absolutely love being a part of. See you at the next one!
