Did you know that almost two thirds of people who die in house fires have a disability?
On average, 18 people die in preventable residential house fires in Victoria every year.
CFA and Fire Rescue Victoria have an online learning module to support at risk people with planning for fire emergencies at home.
Prevent, Detect, Escape – Home Fire Safety for people at higher risk is made for people at increased fire risk, and for people who support or care for them. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/atrisk

On behalf of all our members at Trentham Fire Brigade, we would like to sincerely thank Chief Officer Jason Heffernan AFSM for his outstanding leadership, dedication and unwavering commitment to CFA and the communities we serve.

Chief Officer Heffernan has always led with integrity, humility and genuine care for CFA volunteers. His personal visit to Trentham Fire Brigade to offer his support is something our members greatly appreciated and will long remember. It demonstrated the value he placed on connecting with brigades and the people behind the pager.

We are grateful for his leadership through some of Victoria’s most challenging fire seasons and for the lasting contribution he has made to our organisation.

From everyone at Trentham Fire Brigade, thank you, Jason, for your service and support. We wish you and your family every success as you begin your new role as Chief Executive Officer of St John Ambulance NSW.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan AFSM has advised that he will be stepping down from his position as Chief Officer to accept the role of Chief Executive Officer at St John Ambulance NSW.

During his time at CFA, CO Heffernan has led the Victorian community through major fires and led CFA through significant change with his clear and calm leadership.

CO Heffernan will continue his work with CFA until November.

We thank him for his leadership and dedication to our members throughout his six years at CFA.

Tomorrow at 2:00pm, Australians will receive a test AusAlert emergency warning on compatible mobile devices. This is only a test to ensure the new national emergency warning system is working as intended—no action is required. Thanks for helping make our communities safer by taking part. 🚒📱

A quick note- if you do not wish to receive the alert, you will need to turn your phone off prior to the test time.

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system.

It does not replace VicEmergency and will only be used in certain situations.

AusAlert is being tested at 2 pm on Monday 27 July.

What to expect: You’ll get an alert on your mobile device. It will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds - even if your phone is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Safety: If this test could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. However, in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

To hear what an AusAlert sounds like and to learn more, visit ausalert.gov.au.

🚨Just a heads up for the Daylesford Community in and around Smith St!!

The Glenlyon Group of Fire Brigade will be doing a winter group training exercise at Daylesford College this Sunday from 9am. You will see most of the fire trucks from the group in that area Sunday morning. Lights and sirens will NOT be used unless we are responding to a real emergency.

Thank you all for your support 🚒

Today we recognise those who's duty it is to run towards danger when others are told to leave.

On International Firefighter Day, we thank our incredible CFA members and all of those who protect communities in times of crisis and every day in between.

Your courage, commitment and care don't go unnoticed.
