🔥 Fire Call 🔥

Tonight, Tuggerah pumper along with Ourimbah 1 responded to reports of a fire at Palmdale. On arrival crews found a very large and unsafe pile burn. Given the size of the fire, crews requested more resources to provide extra water. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and will patrol it over the next few days as it continues to smoulder.

⚠️Even though we are currently outside of the bushfire danger period, this is a timely reminder that land owners must abide by council requirements and other relevant agencies policies in regard to open burning.

🔥Please do the right thing, illegal or poorly managed burns can become dangerous very quickly and place the surrounding properties in danger.

🔥Hazard Reduction - Tuggerah🔥

Our friends from Fire and Rescue NSW Bushfire Section will be conducting a planned hazard reduction burn Tomorrow 8th August 2026 (weather permitting) within the Tuggerah area.

If you live nearby, please consider doing the following:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering buildings.
- Outdoor items such as outdoor furniture, trampolines, playground equipment etc should be either taken inside or covered. Where this is not practical, items should be hosed down regularly to prevent ember damage.
- Retract plastic or synthetic pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clothes lines.
- Ensure any outdoor pets have a sheltered area.
- If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
- If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on.
Never fly drones or Remote Piloted Aircraft near bush fires or hazard reductions, where other aircraft may be operating. Penalties apply.
