🚧 Notice of Works – Port Neill Beach Access Staircases

The District Council of Tumby Bay advises that construction of two new beach access staircases in Port Neill are scheduled to commence this week from Monday 17 August 2026.

πŸ“ Locations:
β€’ North-west of the Jetty
β€’ Mottled Cove Road

Works are expected to continue throughout the week, subject to weather conditions and site requirements.

The project forms part of the Tumby Bay and Port Neill Beach Access Project, funded through the South Australian Government’s Algal Bloom Response: Local Government Grant Fund.

🚧 Please take care around the work sites and follow all contractor fencing, barriers and safety signage.

Council appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation while these important improvements are undertaken.

A friendly reminder to all local pet owners that dog and cat registrations are due by 31 August 2026.

Please make sure your furry friends are registered and their details are up to date. Registration helps Council reunite lost pets with their owners and supports responsible pet ownership in our community.

The District Council of Tumby Bay is preparing a new Urban Design Framework to help shape the future of our township.

What is an Urban Design Framework?
It will provide a vision and roadmap for improvements to our streets, paths, open spaces and development opportunities.

The Framework will also focus on two key areas:
🌊 The Foreshore – between the cafΓ© and Lions Park
🌳 Harvey Drive Park – Tumby Bay Lookout

The District Council of Tumby Bay is inviting members of the community to provide feedback on the Draft Community Engagement Policy.

Council is updating the Policy to align with the South Australian Government's new Community Engagement Charter and recent amendments to the Local Government Act 1999.

The Draft Community Engagement Policy sets out how Council will inform, consult and engage with the community on decisions, projects and activities that may affect our district.

You can provide feedback by:
βœ” Completing the downloadable feedback form
βœ” Emailing a written submission to [email protected]
βœ” Picking up a hard copy feedback form from the Council Office or Library
βœ” Delivering or posting a written submission to the Council Office
βœ” Providing verbal feedback to Council staff during the consultation period

WORKS AND COMMUNITY UPDATE
Pearson Street Beach Access Staircase – Tumby Bay

Works on the new timber beach access staircase at Pearson Street have now been completed with the site now open to the public!

Council thanks local contractor Butler General Building for their work constructing the new staircase and our Council civil works team for some pathway work at the site.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by residents and visitors during the construction period.

The Port Neill beach access staircases will occur in the coming weeks. Further information about future works dates in Port Neill will be provided soon.

NOTICE OF WORKS – Pearson Street Beach Access Staircase, Tumby Bay

The District Council of Tumby Bay advises that construction of a new timber beach access staircase at the foreshore opposite Pearson Street is scheduled to commence from Monday 3 August 2026.

As part of these works:
πŸ”Ή The Pearson Street beach access point will be temporarily closed.
πŸ”Ή Please follow all safety signage, temporary fencing and contractor directions.
πŸ”Ή Alternative nearby beach access points will remain available throughout the construction period.

This project forms part of the Tumby Bay and Port Neill Beach Access Project, proudly funded through the South Australian Government's Algal Bloom Response: Local Government Grant Fund.
