We’ve recently had a lot of enquiries regarding census forms from people still waiting. Most people who don’t already get delivery of mail will NOT be getting any forms in the post. We will not be receiving any forms to hand out to customers.
The team running this area are working very hard to reach everyone but in the meantime, you don’t have to wait. You can do your census quickly and easily online. The system is straightforward and user friendly.
You’ll need to request a census number before you complete it, which you do as part of the process.

Outbound parcels to the US

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has advised that the 10 per cent global tariffs on items being sent to the US will expire on 24 July 2026. Instead, customers will be charged on a per-Harmonised System Codes (HS Codes) and Country of Origin (COO) basis with the corresponding duty rate being a percentage of the declared value of the goods.

CBP also advised that customers will no longer have the option to apply 6 or 8-digit HS Codes on outbound parcels headed for the US from Australia. Effective 24 July 2026, CBP will only accept 10-digit HS Codes. Items without a 10-digit HS code may be returned.

HS Codes influence how the US calculates tariffs and duties on items being sent to the US. CBP can only apply tariffs and charge duties accurately based on 10-digit HS codes.

If you are already registered with Zonos, no further action is required. Our lodgement platforms and systems will be updated automatically on 17 July 2026 with the new tariff and duty rates and 10-digit HS codes when using the auto-lookup item description.

If you are sending international parcels, it’s important to keep up with updates from overseas authorities.

Based on directions from China Customs, parcels outbound from Australia to China must include the receiver's mobile phone number on the Customs Declaration form. China Customs will not accept a recipient landline phone number or email address.

The onus is on you to ensure you have all correct information. You may not be prompted by staff because of how many changes are happening. Our systems sometimes prompt us, but you should always make sure you have the correct information available on your customs forms.

As many of you will realize when you wake up this morning, there is a major Telstra outage. All of our scanners and systems run on Telstra network, so you may be following parcels that aren’t showing any activity today. Please be patient with our staff, we are going to be working harder than usual. Once the network comes back online, you will likely receive the updates from the auspost tracking service.
