MD2 Pineapples Enter New Zealand Market, Make Landmark Debut at The Food Show New Zealand 2026
Malaysia's premium MD2 pineapples have reached a significant milestone with their official debut in the New Zealand market at The Food Show New Zealand 2026 (TFSNZ 2026), following the successful opening of market access for the export of fresh Malaysian pineapples to New Zealand.
The showcase marks the first public promotion of Malaysian fresh MD2 pineapples in New Zealand and represents an important step in Malaysia's efforts to expand its agri-food exports into high-value international markets.
Visitors attending TFSNZ 2026, held at the Auckland Showgrounds from 23 to 26 July 2026, are invited to experience the exceptional sweetness, freshness, and premium quality of Malaysia's renowned MD2 pineapples through tasting sessions conducted throughout the exhibition.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) in close collaboration with the Malaysian Pineapple Exporters Association (MAPEA) and the Agriculture Counsellor's Office (ACO) Sydney, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Malaysia (MAFS). The participation forms part of Malaysia's broader strategy to strengthen the international presence of its premium agricultural produce while promoting greater market pe*******on in New Zealand.
Malaysia is participating in TFSNZ 2026 through the Malaysia Pavilion, themed "Taste of Malaysia," featuring six Malaysian agri-food companies showcasing a diverse range of export-ready, halal-certified products. The Pavilion was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Abu Bakar Mamat, High Commissioner of Malaysia to New Zealand, underscoring the strong bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and New Zealand in advancing agricultural trade.
Beyond the introduction of fresh MD2 pineapples, the Malaysia Pavilion also features a wide selection of value-added agri-food products, including fruit-based products, sauces and cooking pastes, frozen seafood, biscuits, freeze-dried fruits, health products, and beverages. Collectively, these offerings highlight Malaysia's commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative, and internationally competitive food products to consumers and business partners in New Zealand.
