This week at playgroup is all about Dad's. Our book for the week is, "My Dad, The Secret Superhero!"

To celebrate we will be making secret Father's Day gifts for this coming weekend, along with games celebrating all things Dad.

We can't wait to see you on Tuesday from 9-10.30am

To help make the stall a success, we are seeking donations of suitable Father’s Day gifts, prizes, or items that can be included in gift hampers. Donations can be sent to the school office and would be greatly appreciated by Friday, 28 August 2026.

Vale View Students at the RoboCup Junior Queensland State Championships

Here are the rest of our photos from a fantastic weekend at the RoboCup Junior Queensland State Championships.

There were plenty of successes, but also plenty of moments when robots did not behave as planned! It was great to see our students persist, make changes, help each other and learn to laugh when things went wrong. Competitions like this are about much more than scores and trophies. They give students the chance to learn from their own successes and mistakes, see what other teams are doing and come home with new ideas for next time.

We are very proud of all of our Vale View students and the way they represented our school throughout the competition.

I may still have photos of them from the competition, so if you would like copies for yourself, please come and see me with a USB and I will be happy to provide any photos I have. Tomorrow at Playgroup we are excited to celebrate National Science week!!

To explore we will have rocket design and launching, bee bots, volcano eruptions, bubble painting, shadow puppet design, music play and more!

Remember warm messy play clothes, a hat and yummy snack.

Vale View State School students put their robotics skills to the test at the 2026 RoboCup Junior Queensland State Championships, competing alongside some of the best young programmers and engineers from across the state.

Our students represented Vale View across a number of robotics challenges and produced some amazing work throughout the competition. The atmosphere was fantastic as teams worked together, solved problems and adapted when their robots did not always behave as expected.

One of the most important parts of RoboCup is learning that things will not always go to plan. Throughout the weekend, our students showed great perseverance. They learned to laugh when things went wrong, work out what had happened, make changes and have another go. Every success and every mistake became an opportunity to learn.

The competition also gave students the chance to see what other teams from around Queensland were creating. They were able to observe different designs, programming techniques and engineering solutions, then take those ideas back to improve their own robots.

A special mention goes to Captain Sprinkles, our Mighty Maisy Rescue Maze team of Fletcher Hayward, Corran Marchant and Evelyn Stannard. The team finished an outstanding 5th in Queensland in Rescue Maze and also received an Engineering Excellence Award for their work.

While awards and placings are wonderful achievements, the greatest success was seeing our students supporting each other, persisting through challenges and continuing to learn throughout the event.

We are extremely proud of all of our Vale View teams and the effort they have put into designing, building, programming, testing and improving their robots. Competing at this level is a significant achievement and the experience gained from working alongside some of Queensland’s best young robotics students will stay with them well beyond the competition.
