☝️WE ARE STILL BUSY DESPITE THE RAIN!!

Your Fire Brigade has been busy undertaking community engagement activities despite the gloomy wet weather! 💦

📍On Sunday 18 October, we teamed up with Noosa Council, Queensland National Parks and Coolum Fire Department for a collaborative community bushfire information and education session at the Peregian Beach Markets. It was a great chance for residents to chat to us about bushfire preparedness and the opportunity to gauge community confidence about the ongoing fire mitigation activities that have been undertaken since the devastating Peregian Springs fires in 2019. The display was very well attended with many residents discussing their preparedness for the up and coming fire and storm season. A big thanks to Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club for hosting us.
We were also reunited with a well respected community member Mr Trevor Venning who proudly served as Captain of the Verrierdale Rural Fire Brigade for over 30 years! It was wonderful to catch up with Trevor who is still very much out and about in the community selling his fruit and vegetables at Markets. The Brigade wishes Trevor and his family well for the future.

📍And just a few days later on Wednesday 21 October, our crew took our main fire truck to do another display and educational session to Year 5 students at Peregian Beach College. This was another joint event with Noosa Council and this time with the Queensland Police Department and the State Emergency Service. The students enjoyed the session and were very proactive in discussing the danger of bushfires and storms and how they can prepare their homes and families for these types of emergencies concluding with a tour of the emergency vehicles and equipment. A great opportunity to help our younger community members understand the importance of being prepared BEFORE an emergency. Many thanks to Peregian Beach College for having us! On Sunday 11 October 2026, our Brigade along with Doonan Rural Fire Brigade (DRFB) attended a grass fire which was started by a large tree falling across powerlines on Dean Road near Martha Lane. A power outage was also felt across Verrierdale and surrounding suburbs as a result.

The Crews' rapid response stopped the fire from spreading to nearby properties and was contained to a small area of land with all Crew members remaining safe throughout the operation.
A huge shout out a local resident Zenon Hack aged 8, and his family who were first on the scene prior to our Crews arriving. Your quick actions prevented the fire from spreading. Absolute little legend!🏆

A big thanks to our colleagues from DRFB for their assistance🔥

🔥FireFighter Remembrance Day 2026🔥

Today Saturday 10 October 2026, we commemorate Firefighters Remembrance Day honoring the firefighters who have lost their lives whilst protecting their communities.

Its a day to reflect on the risks our firefighters face on every job and the courage and dedication they have to defend and keep our community safe.

We thank all our Brigade members who answer the call day or night to assist the community in times of bushfire emergencies and crises. You are appreciated🔥

📍On Monday, 5 October 2026, our Brigade joined a Strike Team in response to the Murphy’s Creek double bushfire emergency in the Lockyer Valley, which burned for several days.

Our crew worked alongside other volunteer Brigades from across the Region on firefighting and containment efforts, including aerial support from QFD.

Thanks to our everyone’s hard work, properties and feed paddocks were saved in some very rough going terrain!

📍On Saturday, 26 September 2026, 14 Brigade members participated in Nationally Accredited Training in First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009). The First Aid course also included additional training in the use of Tourniquets for severe bleeding and major limb trauma.

The courses offered comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in providing emergency first aid as a First Responder. The training included controlling severe arterial bleeding, managing major wounds including crush injuries, first aid for all sorts of injuries including broken bones, burns, lacerations, head injuries, bites and stings even drowning. The CPR course included training on the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and how they work.

It was a full day of training but an enjoyable one! These courses provided our members with essential skills and knowledge to be a first responder for the community in times of emergency situations and operations and for each other, should an incident occur on the fire ground.

Congratulations to all our Brigade members who successfully passed their end of course assessments earning them National Accreditation. Terrific job well done! ✨

A big thank you to our course facilitator John Symonds, Director of ‘Know What To Do,’ knowwhattodo.com.au/ for his exceptional knowledge, experience and professionalism in delivering these courses to our Brigade. Greatly appreciated!
