πŸŽ‰ Please join us in welcoming two new members to the BHFLHN Governing Board, Margot Goss and Lorna Hallahan.

Margot brings a wealth of experience in leadership, governance and strategic reform, while Lorna is a respected disability leader, social worker, academic with a long history of advocating for inclusion and community wellbeing.

As we welcome Margot and Lorna, we also thank outgoing Board members Rosey Batt and Pru Blackwell for their incredible contribution. CSSD unit is such an important part of our health service here on the Fleurieu - thank Vicki and Ella!!

Grandmother and granddaughter duo Vicki and Ella work side by side in the Central Sterile Services Department at Southern Fleurieu Health Service, part of the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN).

Vicki has been part of the team for 18 years, bringing a wealth of experience, dedication and local knowledge. Her granddaughter Ella began her journey through a placement with BHFLHN and has now been a valued member of the team for four years.

Together, they represent the strength of shared knowledge, mentorship and the rewarding career pathways available in regional healthcare.

Behind the scenes, the Central Sterile Services Department team is responsible for the cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment used across the health service. While much of this work happens out of sight, it plays a vital role in supporting safe surgery, preventing infection and delivering high-quality patient care.

Their story is a reminder that great healthcare depends on dedicated teams at every stage of the patient journey, helping us deliver safe, high-quality care close to home. ❀️

This June, we recognise World Continence Week (15–21 June) and Stomal Therapy Week (22–28 June) and highlight the important role continence and stomal therapy services play in supporting dignity, independence and quality of life. πŸ’™

Across BHFLHN, the Continence and Stomal Therapy Team helps patients and staff through education, practical advice and accessible information, empowering people to build confidence in self-management and access care close to home.

Around 1 in 4 Australians experience some form of incontinence, affecting more than 5 million people. It can affect people of any age, gender or cultural background, making it important to reduce stigma and encourage people to seek help early.

Our team delivers care across the Southern Fleurieu, Adelaide Hills, Barossa and Gawler, and Kangaroo Island regions.

We thank our Continence and Stomal Therapy Team, pictured here, for the expert, compassionate care they provide to our communities every day.
