We shall remember them. To our scouts and our leaders, to those who returned, and those who did not. All have contributed in their way. In particular is Lieutenant Bob Monteith, 26th Battalion AIF, who – although never a scout – will never know his contributions to future scouts. From his parents, the memorial fund in his name allowed the purchase of Eprapah, Queensland's leader training centre; and today the long-time scout training centre in environmental education.

For those in the south-east corner of the State this Saturday, please share with us in the Scouting life of retired BC (Env Ed) Judy SEYMOUR, at the Eprapah Scout Environment Education Centre (424 Cleveland–Redland Bay Road). We meet at Mungara at 2.30 pm, on Saturday 16 September 2023, to view memorabilia, and an afternoon tea, before proceeding to the chapel with the family with a memorial plaque.

Judy commenced her Scouting in 1955 as an Assistant Lady Cub Master in New Zealand for two years, and in 1981 she returned to Scouting as an Assistant Cub Leader with Redcliffe Scout Group.

Judy was always interested in the environment and the Eprapah Environmental Education Centre. She was appointed Branch Commissioner for Environmental Education in 2000 to 2015 when she changed role to Branch Advisor Chaplaincy Support whilst remaining as a member of the Eprapah Scout Fellowship.

Judy is also fondly remembered for the Story Telling Workshops that she initiated and ran for Leaders. Judy gave 43 years active service to Scouting. Her knowledge and passion for Scouting and the environment has been shared through the teams she established, led and supported to promote environmental education.

In 2015 her service was recognised when she was awarded the Silver Kangaroo.

LOSS OF A TEAM MEMBER. :-( It is with sad news the long and well serving Grey Owl activity shelter (b. 1974) has been recently destroyed by fire (the cause is still being investigated). Named after 1930s+ wood badge course quartermaster and Cleveland scout leader, Thomas Gloster, the partially-open shelter housed some of the various teaching tools used by the State's Environment Education Team. However there is still great seating on the old kauri pines at the front of the Biolab (1976). Feel free to post some of your memories with the Grey Owl shelter. Thanks Grey Owl for your service.

The Environment team -- we keep putting the 'outing' in Scouting!
