🔥 WADALBA CAT 1 & CAT 9 CALGA FIRE 🔥

Yesterday, Wadalba CAT 1 and CAT 9 were called to the Bandaroo Road fire at Calga, working alongside crews from across the Central Coast.

Crews were faced with heavy smoke, difficult conditions and fire burning through bushland near Peats Ridge Road. Firefighters worked hard to contain the fire and protect the surrounding area, with waterbombing aircraft also assisting from above.

Proud to see our Wadalba crews out there getting the job done.

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there, and to all our brigade dads and grandads too! Thanks for setting aside time...

🔥 FIRE DANGER RATING– SATURDAY 5 SEPTEMBER - EXTREME 🔥

🚫 TOTAL FIRE BAN DECLARED 🚫

A Total Fire Ban means no fires can be lit in the open, and restrictions apply to a range of activities that could start a fire.

⚠️ AVOID BURNING OFF ⚠️

While we have not yet entered the Statutory Bush Fire Danger Period, which commences 1 October 2026, residents are strongly encouraged not to burn off today.

The forecast combination of high temperatures and strong winds creates an increased risk of fire spreading quickly and becoming difficult to control.

Always ensure any burning is carried out in accordance with the relevant Council and fire safety requirements.

🏠 TAKE ACTION NOW TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE AND PROPERTY

✔️ Make sure your Bush Fire Survival Plan is up to date and everyone in your household knows what to do.

✔️ Re-check your property for potential hazards, including debris, overhanging branches, long grass and other flammable materials.

✔️ Stay informed through official emergency service channels and monitor changing conditions.

✔️ If conditions deteriorate or a fire threatens, be prepared to leave early.

🔥 Stay Safe. Stay Alert. Stay Prepared.

Follow the NSW Rural Fire Service and other local emergency services for the latest fire danger ratings, warnings and information.

Check your fire safety plans today — don't wait until a fire starts.

Over the past few days, crews have responded to numerous escaped burns across the state. With elevated fire conditions forecast across the weekend, we are urging residents to take extra care when conducting your burns.

While fire agencies and land managers will be closely monitoring areas where hazard reduction burns have been conducted earlier this week, we are also asking landholders to closely monitor their own burns.

If you are in an area currently within its Bush Fire Danger Period, you must have a permit from your local brigade and notify your neighbours and the RFS at least 24 hours before conducting your burn.

Don’t put your community at risk. For more information on safe burning, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/safeburning
