🌟 National Volunteer Week 2026 🌟

At the Wagga Wagga Society of Model Engineers, we’re powered by more than 50 incredible volunteers.
From tiny 8‑week‑old ticket sellers to legends who’ve been “over the hill” and back again.

They don’t just haul passengers around our tracks. They keep this place alive through some of the following:

Gardening ~ keeping our grounds beautiful.

Track/Loco maintenance ~ Ensuring every ride is safe and smooth.

General maintenance ~ Giving our railway its colour and character and creating a space families love coming back to.

And no matter how busy the day gets, there’s always time for fun, laughs in the workshop, shared stories over morning tea, and the joy of volunteering alongside people from many walks of life.

Every volunteer brings something unique, and together they make our miniature railway a place of joy for the whole community.

Today, we’re sending love to all the mums, mother figures, and families in our community. 💚🌻

From those celebrating, to those remembering, grieving, hoping, or simply doing their very best every day today is for you.

The Wagga Wagga Society of Model Engineers is proud to be a volunteer-run group bringing smiles, memories, and little moments of joy to local families through our miniature trains. We know that behind every child’s smile is someone who loves, supports, and cares for them.

To every mum, step mum, foster mum, grandmother, bonus mum, single mum, and all those who fill the role of a mum in someone’s life. We see you, appreciate you, and celebrate you today.

Sunday 19th April the Willans Hill Miniature Railway is collaborating with Museum of the Riverina to bring you a fun school holiday adventure.

Hop on at the Willans Hill station, ride the rails to the Museum Station, and enjoy the 🖼️ Hands-on Museum of the Riverina Holiday Program.

Then catch the train back to the Willans Hill Station when you're done!

What a day! Our Miniature Railway ran from morning through to night, and none of it would have been possible without our wonderful volunteers and the fantastic community who came out to ride.

Thank you for choosing to spend part of your Easter with us. Your support keeps our little railway chugging along.
Our patrons kept us smiling all day (and night!), and our incredible volunteers kept the trains running with energy, laughter, and heart.
We’re so grateful for your support and for making today such a memorable Easter. 🚂💚
