What an incredible achievement for one of our own!
At just 15 years of age, Andre Labara has made an extraordinary mark on the international stage in Vancouver breaking the Australian record not once, but TWICE in a single day! 🏆
What an amazing accomplishment and a wonderful reflection of the dedication, hard work and determination that goes into reaching this level.
To achieve one Australian record is remarkable. To break it twice in the same day is simply outstanding!
Congratulations, Andre 🇦🇺

Records are falling in Vancouver
Our very own Junior dolphin Andre Labara made his mark in the 400m IM yesterday lowering the Australian Age Record for 15-year-old boys twice in one day.

After breaking the mark in the heats with a 4:20.20, Andre went even faster in the final with a new Aus record time of 4:16.88 🔥

That swim puts Andre among the fastest 15-year-old 400m IM swimmers ever recorded internationally, just 1.68 seconds off the time Michael Phelps swam at the same age in 2001.

A huge congratulations to you Andre, we are all so proud of you and can’t wait to see what’s to come next! 🙌

It was an honour to be there to see the Wagga RSL Club present more than $121,000 in 2026 ClubGRANTS funding to 11 impressive organisations.
These grants provide valuable support to organisations doing important work across our community, supporting families, young people, people experiencing hardship, mental health, cancer support and so much more.
Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients, and thank you to the Wagga RSL Club for continuing to invest in our community and support the organisations making a real difference every day. 💙

Have you ever travelled by train and wished the timetables from Wagga to capital cities were more convenient? 🚉 Have your say in the survey below to help me advocate for train services to be delivered at times that better suit our community.
Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DrJoeTrainSurvey

At a time when cost of living pressures are adding to the burden of local households, I am keen to see whether improved train services could help people to get to and from the capitals at more convenient times at a reasonable cost.

I have already made it clear to the government that regional travellers should benefit from improved timetables that reflect the needs of regional people, not just those in Sydney, so community feedback will be an important tool to lobby for change.

Today I had the absolute honour of delivering the Civic Welcome at the Vietnam Veterans’ Day Service, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
It was a privilege to stand alongside our veterans, their families and our local community as we paused to remember and honour the service and sacrifice of those who served in Vietnam.
As part of the service, I was honoured to lay a wreath in remembrance of all those who served and sacrificed. It was a deeply meaningful moment and one I was proud to share with our community.
The service was incredibly well supported by our veteran and local communities, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who attended and helped make the occasion so meaningful.
A special thank you to the Vietnam Veterans Riverina Sub Branch for the care, dedication and respect they continue to show in organising this important annual service and ensuring the stories and service of our Vietnam veterans are remembered.
We will remember them. Lest we forget. 🇦🇺

🎶 Band Fusion 2026 🎶

What a wonderful evening of music at Wagga Christian College for Band Fusion 2026.

Congratulations to the Riverina Conservatorium of Music and all the hardworking and talented musicians from Australian Army Band Kapooka, Wagga Community Band, Riverina Conservatorium Student Concert Band and Riverina Concert Band on an outstanding evening of performances.

It was fantastic to see so many musicians from across our community coming together, sharing their passion for music and putting on such a memorable night for the audience.

Events like Band Fusion showcase the incredible depth of musical talent we have in our region and the important role music and the arts play in bringing our community together.

Well done to everyone involved! 👏🏼🎶

Congratulations also to Associate Director of the Conservatorium, Dr Harold Gretton on receiving the Outstanding Employee award the night before at the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber Golden Crow Awards 🏆
