🔥 Wood Fire Safety Reminder 🔥
As the colder weather sets in and wood fires are working overtime to keep our homes warm, now is the perfect time to check that your fireplace, flue, and chimney are safe and ready for the season.
A build-up of soot, bird nests, or other debris inside chimneys can significantly increase the risk of a chimney fire. Regular inspections and cleaning help ensure your wood heater operates safely and efficiently.
✅ Have your chimney and flue inspected and cleaned regularly.
✅ Check that smoke alarms are working and have fresh batteries.
✅ Only burn dry, seasoned firewood.
✅ Keep combustible materials well away from your fireplace or heater.
✅ Ensure ashes are completely cool before disposal.
A little maintenance now can help prevent a dangerous fire later.
Stay warm, stay safe, and if in doubt, contact a qualified wood heater professional for an inspection.

Planning to burn on your property? 🔥

If you’re planning a burn, you must notify us at least 24 hours before lighting up.

✅ Notifying us helps inform your neighbours and fire agencies
✅ Prevents unnecessary emergency calls and fire brigade responses
✅ Keeps everyone safe and informed

👉 You also need to let your neighbours know at least 24 hours in advance.

Notifications can be submitted for up to 21 days only, so the information stays clear and relevant.

We will be conducting several pipe burns again tomorrow from 8am on the railway land on flinders st, smoke will be around most of the morning/early afternoon

🔥 Bush Fire Danger Period ends 31 March 🔥

But if you’re planning to burn, you still must NOTIFY.

✔ Notify the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before you light: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
✔ Notify your neighbours at least 24 hours prior
✔ Notify your brigade captain on the morning of the burn

These steps are legal requirements, and failing to notify carries harsh penalties.
