Paul’s been running around like a headless chook and managed to get the dates mixed up 😅

The correct date is Friday the 24th — not the 23rd as mentioned in the paper.

The Fire Danger Rating will remain in High in the Armidale Regional Council, Uralla Shire Council and Walcha Council areas for Sunday 19 April and Monday 20 April. A reminder that it is still a requirement to notify the RFS and your neighbours (including those joining by road or waterway) no less then 24 hours before lighting up.

You can notify the RFS via the RFS website, or by contacting our team on 6771 7700 from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Meet Firefighter Doug!

When not a Firey, Doug is a Tiler and Road Crew Operator.

He joined the Station 8 years ago, right after turning 18 and here's what he said about it:
" I joined Station 481 because Walcha is home, and I wanted to give back to the community that’s given so much to me. Eight years on, being a firey has become part of who I am — it’s more than a job, it’s a purpose. Every time the pager goes off, I still feel that same excitement. Serving alongside a great crew and being there for people when they need us most is something I’m incredibly proud of, and if I could do it full time, I would in a heartbeat. "
