🌕🚂 The last Light Train for the year approaches the Thomson Railway Bridge beneath a big, beautiful moon.

In the darkness, the train’s headlight and the moon overhead are the only lights — a truly magical and peaceful sight in the Walhalla bush. 🌲✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us and rode our Light Trains this year. And an enormous thank you to our hardworking volunteers who made all the magic happen across five beautiful Saturday nights. ❤️

These special evenings simply wouldn't be possible without the dedication, time and passion of our wonderful volunteer team.

Vibrant colour and sound in the dark. ✨🚂

There’s something truly evocative about seeing the Light Train travel through the valley at night — the glow of the carriages, the sound of the locomotive and the beautiful landscape alight in the darkness.

Even if you couldn’t get a ticket this year, it’s still worth coming to Walhalla to see the train. You can book dinner at the Walhalla Lodge Hotel, enjoy a bite at the Goods Shed Café, and watch the train cross the historic Thomson bridge. Seeing the illuminated train in the darkness is a sight to remember. 📸

Why not make a night or weekend of it and stay over - check out accommodation options? Take a walk through historic Walhalla, explore the Corner Stores and Museum, enjoy "Walhalla Alive" our new virtual reality experience, visit the Old Post Office and Old Fire Station - they close late at 7pm tonight. Look up — on a clear night, the stars are spectacular. Or book in for a Ghost Tour. Then ride the train on Sunday at 10am or 12pm.

We are looking forward to a great weekend on the railway, with two trains running Saturday and Sunday at 10am and 12pm.

The Walhalla Heritage and Development League owns and manages a varied portfolio in beautiful Walhalla. These assets now include
- The Walhalla Corner Stores, museum, gift shop and postal agency
- The Long Tunnel Extended Tourist mine
- The historic Walhalla Post and Telegraph Office (museum)
- The Chinese Gardens Camping Ground
- The Walhalla Mechanics Institute
- The Walhalla Ghost Tours business

Prior to the Christmas period we are looking at filling numerous paid (part time) and volunteer positions across numerous assets. We are looking for mine / ghost tour guides, archivists, retail assistants, maintenance people etc.

Paid positions will be at award rates.

All volunteers will be reimbursed for travel costs.
