Today we join the wider emergency services community in mourning the heartbreaking loss of two Marine Rescue NSW volunteers who died while responding to a rescue operation near Ballina.

These members gave their time, skill and courage in the service of others. To lose volunteers while they are helping people in need is a tragedy felt deeply across all emergency service organisations.

On behalf of Wamberal Rural Fire Brigade, we extend our sincere condolences to their families, loved ones, fellow crew members and the broader Marine Rescue NSW community.

This devastating incident is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by those who step forward to protect and assist others, often in the most difficult conditions.

We honour their service, their courage and their sacrifice.

Every year after one of our Santa Runs, di Matteos generously shout our crew a beautiful dinner. It’s become a tradition we genuinely look forward to, and we’re so grateful for the warmth, kindness and community spirit you show us year after year.

Final Santa Run for 2025!!! We'll start west of the Entrance Rd (Brush, Okanagan, High valley) then wind our way through the streets on the east side. Come out and help us make it a good one!!! Night four of Santa Runs! A big thanks to everyone that has come out to see us so far!! Tonight we start in Aldinga and zig zag our way around the streets on that side of the highway. We then cross over behind Wambie shops and cover the lower side before finishing with Loxton, Lucinda and Reads Rd. You'll hear us coming (sirens, music and bells). Come and join the fun!!

Night three - and it's a hot one! Still 32 degree's as we head out this evening so stay cool if you are hanging about with neighbours waiting for Santa's visit! We recommend lots of cold water, iceblocks, sprinklers and water guns!! 😊 Tonight we start in Crystal street and continue heading south. We then duck over to Bakali and the Entrance Frontage Rd before looping around Ocean Mist Estate. Once again, heading out at 5.30pm! 🎄

Day two of Santa Runs!!! It's still going to be 28 degrees at 6pm so please stay cool and hydrated! We will start at the top of the map today - Poplars and Sanctuary - and working our way slowly south. We'll finish up at Bluewave and Peter Ave, Crystal Street is tomorrow night!! Good afternoon Coasties! Santa and his Wambie RFB helpers kick off the first "Santa Run" this evening, starting approximately 5.30pm. We will be visiting the streets outlined on the map below:
- Starting at Lea Ave and Longview and heading north, sticking to the streets on the left,
- Turning down Bellevue, heading east doing the streets on the left, before turning back around to head west back to Tumbi Rd.
- Returning south and focusing on the remaining streets (Warrnambool, Dashwood, Carbeen etc).

As much as we’d love to visit every street and every child, daylight is limited and our time on the road goes quickly. We’ll always do our best to reach as many families as possible.

🎅 Santa Run – Important info

We’ll be rolling out from 5:30pm each evening.

You’ll hear us coming — sirens + Christmas music — so feel free to pop out to the street we’re in to make sure you don’t miss us.

Please remember our brigade remains fully operational, so route changes or delays may occur if we’re called to an incident.

Quick safety reminders

Please don’t run onto the road or in front of the truck — keep kids close and stay on the footpath/driveway.

For drivers: please don’t follow closely behind, overtake, or block the truck (we need room to stop safely and may need to move quickly).

Let’s look after each other: share the lollies with kids and families around you so everyone gets a little bit of Christmas cheer.

This time of year is truly special — we love what we do, and bringing smiles, waves, and Christmas spirit to our community is something we look forward to every year. Thanks for your understanding and support — we’re proud to serve such an amazing community. 🎄🚒
