World Wildlife Day held on the
3rd March each year in honour of the wild animals and plants. It recognises the vital role native animals play in Supporting the Earths Biodiversity. We have much to celebrate at Adrina’s Macropod Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. Denmark a redneck Joey in care and Mudcake an eastern grey joey, both orphans, their nutrition is dependent on us. Mudcake in pic 2 had her head buried to reach the soil and eat it. She instinctively knows is good for her gut health.
Thank you for supporting us in what we stand for. Caring for wildlife comes at a cost. If we poison our environment everything suffers.
Mudcake and Denmark both different species of Macropod are a bonded pair for now, however one day that will change they will know they are different as others before them and behave as their own unique species.

If you come across injured, sick, displaced wildlife please call the

Already February the days have been so hot and we have all been so busy tending to the care of joeys coming in and the ones we are rehabilitating. We are all so devoted to their care, reports are written twice a day, observations recorded, they are weighed and feeds adjusted they are all individuals just as we are. With a weekly Veterinary Report. Noting any small change in demeanour.
Thank you to those of you in the community that support us, call in sick, injured or concerned about welfare of wildlife and that wait with the injured animal.
Pic 1 a sweet 2kg boy lost his mum to a car accident this week.
📸 Lynne White who rescued him held him close following Triage until the Macropod CoOrdinator could arrange a Trained Carer. Many people are involved all volunteers.

Some of last year’s orphans returning to our centre well bonded and we will do all we can to support them through the next part of their journey towards rehabilitation with release being the ultimate goal.

Here we are already in the 2nd week of 2026 with those of us that rescue or on hotline, busy over Christmas and New Year. Our heat wave began on the 7th January the day these photos were taken. Fortunately we have water and were able to put the raised spray hoses on and hang a hose with a fan mist out of a tree. Pic 3 one Joey has back against the concrete tub cooling itself. Pic 4 the joeys stood with their backs to the spray.
This morning we enter day 3 of 4 days of the heatwave tomorrow it peaks at over 40.
The joeys are observed for heat stress as are the volunteers. A fire plan in place.
We have sticks in our low water containers so other wildlife can safely climb out.
Please stay hydrated and thank you for your continued support it means a lot to us.
We volunteer as Members of WRSC
and are supported by community donations no one is paid in our organisation.
Adrina owns the property on which we volunteer.

Best wishes for a safe and happy season of celebration.
Thank you to all who support us as we strive to make a difference.
Thank you to Village Vet
# Sussex Inlet Vet and our incredible Volunteer Veterinarian who visits us weekly. Adrina Selles who works tirelessly for the Macropods in need providing a safe haven on her property for the sick, injured, The 2 WRSC Macropod Coordinators who provide guidance and keep records of every animal in care, and those that have met their fate on the roads or otherwise.
The Wandy babies are growing up fast and leaving the pouch for short periods to explore and find their feet. Their personalities developing. They should be with their Mums.
Wandanian Macropod Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre never closes volunteers/Members from WRSC will cover shifts to ensure all the joeys are cared for the washing machine won’t stop the yards will still be cleaned, the kitchen will be in full swing with formula preparation bottles and teats washed and sterilised. Each Joey will have the prescribed about of formula poured. It’s tourist season again which means the WRSC hotline will be busy for wildlife sick, injured or you have concerns please call

Today is International Volunteers Day
Some of our Wildlife Rescue Volunteers also volunteer with ORRCA, RFS, SES, Meals on Wheels, Landcare to name a few,
Thank you to Adrina Selles who had a dream and has poured her soul and property into the care of these orphans.
We are so very grateful to those that help us day in day out.
Whilst I’m not allowed to show their faces believe me the labour of unpaid love over two long shifts every single day regardless of weather is so appreciated.
The washing machine is on constantly then out to the line to peg out all the pouches and towels.
The yards need cleaning twice daily the sheds swept hosed out. Milks made age species specific poured and labeled. Stock ordered. Weeds cleared. Fences mended, browse and grass collected. In the past 2.5 weeks we have released 19 Macropods that in itself is a huge. We are also grateful to the owners on large safe properties who have been happy for our mobs to be released on.
The list goes on.
In between care of each individual animal records kept treatment per Volunteer Veterinarian advice yes our wonderful vet came out of retirement and registered to assist us. In between animals rescued and Triaged night and day. Calls to the macropod coordinators for instruction. We are a multi skilled group. Offering so much. members of WRSC

“Graduation Day” Spring 2025
Bittersweet after rescuing rehabilitation milestones made, twice daily report writing along with all the wildlife care the list is endless. Our finely tuned Release Team came together early am after following weather forecasts for the best very best outcome for these much loved Mac’s cared for by wildlife hero’s of WRSC members/volunteers of Wandy who work tirelessly with Adrina at her Rescue and Rehabilitation. Adrina never says no to a macropod in need. Works in conjunction with our Volunteer Veterinarian and local Veterinarians,
and WRSC Macropod Coordinators A number of these eastern greys had been fence hangers, others arriving with babesia, following the deaths of their mothers in vehicle strikes, and other incidents.
Pleased to say that these magnificent fragile animals have been re located to a beautiful safe valley as a mob. Away from Suburbia, and roads. Adequate water, shelter and native food.
It’s never ending as many as have been released have been rescued this past week.

To all involved thank you.
Today 20min drive north of Wandy a fire 🔥 with everything thrown at it from the air and ground by NSW RFS. We have a lot to be grateful for.
An event such as this is terrifying to us also to wildlife, If you come across injured or sick wildlife or that you have concerns for welfare.
