🌸 Happy first day of Spring! 🌸

The days are getting longer, the weather is warming up, and everything is starting to come back to life.

A few springtime reminders while you’re out and about:

🦘 More wildlife is on the move – keep an eye out, particularly around dawn and dusk.

🚗 Slow down and stay alert – our smaller furry and feathered friends don’t always understand the road rules.

And yes, the maggies are back! Swooping season has officially arrived.

🚴 If you’re on a pushbike… good luck out there. 😂 Keep the helmet on, eyes up and maybe make peace with your local magpie before things get personal.

⚠️ Most importantly — PLEASE SLOW DOWN ON OUR ROADS.

Spring means more wildlife, more cyclists, more families out walking and more activity around our roads. A few extra seconds off the accelerator could prevent an accident and save a life.

Slow down. Stay alert. Expect the unexpected. Give cyclists room and watch for wildlife. 🚗🚴🐨

Enjoy the warmer weather and welcome to Spring!

Stories like Mannu’s are a reminder that scammers can target everyday transactions when we least expect it.

Today, we came together at Wangaratta Police Complex to honour Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Your presence, support and kind words mean more than you know.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 26 August, we will come together once again at Bright Police Station.

We remind everyone that an increased number of visitors is expected in the local area. We ask residents and those travelling through the area to allow extra time for their journey and be mindful of changed traffic conditions and road closures.

The memorial service in Bright will see Park Street closed from 9.30am until 11.30am on 26 August.

Our thoughts remain with the families of Neal and Vadim, and all those who continue to carry their loss.

A text. A phone call. A code.

That’s all it took for scammers to steal enough money from Lindy to leave her in debt.
