There were plenty of smiles, tapping toes and fond memories at Illoura Residential Aged Care recently, as residents enjoyed an afternoon of ballroom dancing.

A big thank you to the Benalla Social Dance Group, who visited Illoura and treated residents to a fun demonstration including the Waltz, Evening Three Step, Foxtrot and Cha Cha.

The afternoon was enjoyed by all, with residents getting a real kick out of the music, the atmosphere and the chance to watch some great moves on the dance floor. Thank you to the dancers for sharing their time and talents with our residents.

Our Patient Bed Appeal is off to a fantastic start, thanks to the generosity of our community.

In just the first few days of the appeal, an anonymous donation of $10,500, along with many other community contributions, has helped raise $16,500 towards our $35,000 goal.

Patient beds are used every day by local people during some of life's most challenging moments. Modern beds help provide greater comfort, dignity and support for patients, while also helping our staff deliver safe, high-quality care.

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Every contribution, big or small, helps improve the experience of local patients and families and brings us one step closer to purchasing 10 new patient beds for our health service.

Thank you for helping support healthcare close to home.

This National Reconciliation Week, Northeast Health Wangaratta was honoured to host a special presentation and unveiling of a wallaby skin curated by respected local Elder Uncle Kevin.

The meaningful piece, now displayed in the main hospital corridor, reflects culture, storytelling, connection and healing, and holds special significance for NHW and our community.

Staff and community members came together for the ceremony, which included an Acknowledgement of Country, didgeridoo accompaniment and the opportunity to hear from Uncle Kevin about the importance of the wallaby skin and what it represents, as well as continuing conversations around reconciliation, respect and strengthening connections within our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special and meaningful occasion.

Weโ€™re proud to share that an artwork created by staff at Northeast Health Wangaratta will be featured at the Bendigo Art Gallery.

Created through a collaborative weaving process led by our Aboriginal Health team, Kinship & Continuity reflects connection, learning and shared responsibility across our organisation.

Following NAIDOC Week 2025, staff from across NHW came together to contribute woven pieces, creating a powerful artwork that represents cultural respect, collaboration and our commitment to culturally safe care.

We are incredibly proud to see this meaningful piece showcased as part of Billabongs not Silos: Beyond Symbolism at Bendigo Art Gallery.
