EQUIPPING YOUNG PARENTS FOR LIFE // Marla is currently completing work placement at a local café as part of her Retail Services VET course, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real workplace environment.

From preparing drinks and serving customers to developing communication, teamwork and time management skills, work placement gives our students the opportunity to build confidence and develop practical skills for future employment.

At Young Parents College, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom. Opportunities like these help equip young parents with the skills, experience and confidence they need to achieve their goals and create bright futures for themselves and their families.

Well done, Marla. We're proud to see you embracing every opportunity and growing through real-world learning experiences!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! // This Father’s Day, we're celebrating the fathers and positive male role models who inspire, encourage and support young families every day.

The influence of a caring and dependable male figure can have a lifelong impact, helping young parents navigate challenges, build confidence and create a positive foundation for their children.

To every dad, grandad, mentor, uncle, partner and friend who invests in the lives of young people and their children, thank you. Your presence matters more than you know.

Happy Father’s Day from Young Parents College.

LIVE LITERACY // Today our Central Coast English and Exploring Early Childhood students visited the local library to learn about services Central Coast combined library offers from study support, toddler programs and the extensive physical, digital and audible resources available at no cost. Some of the students signed up their children for the "Book a day" reading challenge, committing to reading to their child each day - building a love of literacy for their child. It was a wonderful day and we are so thankful to have such great services available.

BOOK WEEK FUN AT YOUNG PARENTS NEWCASTLE! // We had a fantastic time celebrating Book Week, with students embracing the spirit of the week through some of the best dress-up efforts we've seen yet!

One of the highlights was a visit to Mayfield Library, where students enjoyed a special story time session and took part in a range of fun activities. Back on campus, Jo coordinated a creative project where students worked together to make their own Very Hungry Caterpillar poster.

It was a week filled with creativity, laughter and a love of reading, and we're excited to share some of the wonderful photos from the celebrations!

BOOK WEEK ON THE CENTRAL COAST // Today our students and staff embraced the joy of reading with a fantastic day of Book Week celebrations.

From The Very Hungry Caterpillar to unicorns, Teletubbies and everything in between, there were plenty of creative costumes, laughs and memorable moments throughout the day.

At Young Parents College, we know that literacy opens doors to opportunity, imagination and lifelong learning. It was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate the stories that inspire us.

WELLBEING BY THE WATER // Last week, our students enjoyed a wellbeing excursion to beautiful Terrigal, taking some time to slow down, connect, and enjoy the fresh air.

The day included a relaxing walk along the foreshore, lunch by the water, and plenty of sunshine helping everyone recharge and reset.

A highlight of the day was spotting Terry the Seal, who made a special appearance during our walk and quickly became a favourite with the group!

At Young Parents College, opportunities like these support student wellbeing, encourage connection, and remind us of the importance of taking time to enjoy the world around us.

SCHOOL PHOTO WEEK AT YOUNG PARENTS COLLEGE! // What happens when you combine students, little ones, cameras and a schedule? A week of beautiful chaos!
Across both our Newcastle and Central Coast campuses, we've captured some absolutely gorgeous family photos, plenty of bright smiles, and a few cheeky characters who were determined to keep our photographer on her toes!
From picture-perfect poses to surprise photobombs, silly faces and aspiring mini photographers, these moments are a wonderful reminder of what makes Young Parents College so special.
Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped create memories we'll treasure for years to come.

MAKING CONNECTIONS, CREATING CHANGE // Over the past two weeks, Young Parents College has been proud to support both the Hunter Homeless Connect Day and the Central Coast Housing and Support Connect Day, with our students volunteering their time to assist these important community events.
These initiatives bring together people experiencing hardship with vital services including housing, health and wellbeing support, legal and financial assistance, education pathways, employment opportunities, and community resources. By creating welcoming and respectful spaces, the events help foster dignity, connection, and a sense of belonging for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
With homelessness continuing to rise across our region, opportunities like these are more important than ever. We are incredibly proud of our students for stepping up with compassion, generosity and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Thank you to the organisers, service providers and volunteers who work together to support those in need and strengthen our communities.
