WARRACKNABEAL JOINS AV AND CFA LIFESAVING PROGRAM, GOING LIVE 24 JUNE.
Warracknabeal brigade is now one of 50 CFA brigades trained and ready to respond to select medical Triple Zero calls as part of Victoria’s Fire Medical Response (FMR) program.

The FMR program is a joint initiative between CFA and Ambulance Victoria where CFA brigades and Ambulance Victoria are dispatched simultaneously to cardiac arrests.

“What this program means is that community members who call for an ambulance may receive both a fire truck and an ambulance. There is no specific order in which the services arrive to the incident.”

Warracknabeal has been training with Ambulance Victoria for months, in preparation for the program which will complement the Ambulance Victoria service in the local area.

Warracknabeal Fire Brigade members recently completed forcible entry training with instructor Graham Hill. Using a Quick cut saw members can access structures quicker and safer.

Fire Medical Response(FMR). Warracknabeal brigade will soon join 49 other CFA brigades supporting Ambulance Victoria. Ten Warracknabeal members have undertaken online training plus two full days of practical training focussing on cardiac arrest as well as other medical treatments. One more full day of training will be required prior to going live, supporting our community further.

A new national warning system called AusAlert will be used across Australia from October 2026.

AusAlert will be able to send warning messages to your mobile device as push notifications during:
• Natural hazards such as bushfires, floods, and tsunamis
• Public health emergencies
• Biosecurity incidents
• Security threats

Before the system is introduced, it will be tested.

In Victoria, a local test will happen in the Geelong suburbs of Highton and Belmont on Thursday 18 June at 2 pm, followed by a national test on Monday 27 July at 2 pm.
