Monday nights can be busy!

Last week, Warrandyte CFA crews responded to four incidents in just two hours, working alongside our Fire Rescue Victoria colleagues across Melbourne’s east.

At 5:52 pm, our pumper and tanker responded to two separate automatic fire sprinkler alarms in East Doncaster, alongside crews from FRV Stations 84 (South Warrandyte), 82 (Eltham), 30 (Doncaster) and 27 (Nunawading).

As crews were wrapping up those incidents at 6:17 pm, our pumper was immediately dispatched to Park Orchards to assist FRV Stations 84 (South Warrandyte), 22 (Ringwood) and 30 (Templestowe) following reports of a kitchen fire. Thankfully, this proved to be a false alarm.

Then, at 6:28 pm, while our pumper was still in Park Orchards and our tanker was returning to station, another call came through for a kitchen fire in East Doncaster. Warrandyte CFA responded alongside FRV Stations 22 (Ringwood) and 27 (Nunawading).

On arrival, crews found a small fire involving an oven and lower drawer, resulting in only minor damage. Thanks to the quick actions of the residents and the rapid response from firefighters, the fire was contained before it could spread further.

A busy reminder that incidents can happen at any time, and that emergency services work together every day to keep our communities safe.

Another step closer.

Our newest recruits were training last night, consolidating everything they've learned in preparation for their General Firefighter assessments this Sunday.

Months of dedication, hard work and commitment have led to this point. We wish the crew all the very best as they take on this important milestone. Good luck, recruits!

🥶💙 Get ready to see our Acting Officer in Charge, Aaron Dean, take the plunge!

We're proud to support ACPS's Big Freeze event as they raise funds and awareness for FightMND. In the spirit of a great cause, Aaron has bravely volunteered to take a seat in the dunk tank...and with enough support, he'll be getting very wet!

Show your support, and help make a splash for an important cause. Every donation helps fund vital research and support services for those living with MND.

Good luck, Aaron—we'll be cheering you on from the dry sidelines! 💦

⏳ 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐 Sleeps 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐳𝐞! ❄️

Andersons Creek Primary School is bringing the frosty fun straight to you with our annual "Big Freeze" event this Friday, June 26th!

We are proudly fundraising for FightMND! 💪

By taking part in this year's DIY Big Freeze, we're raising vital funds to help FightMND beat the "Beast" that is Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

MND is a devastating, progressive disease. In an average timeframe of just 27 months, it gradually takes away a person’s ability to use their arms and legs, eat, swallow, speak, and ultimately, breathe.
Please help us make a difference by donating through our page:

It only takes a minute! Every single dollar you give goes toward improving care for those living with MND, funding crucial research for better treatments, and eventually, finding a cure.

Students are invited to wear casual clothes and join in our annual Big Freeze event!

Don’t forget to bring:
• 👕 A change of clothes
• 🧴 A towel
• 👟 Appropriate footwear

The afternoon schedule will be:
• 1:00 PM – Big Freeze Assembly
• 1:20 PM – 2:30 PM – Dunk Tank and Slip-and-Slide Activities

Thank you so much—we truly appreciate your incredible support.

Together, we can defeat the Beast! 🤝💙

Congratulations to neighboring volunteer John, from Wonga Park CFA, on his OAM!

John is well respected and certainly known for his community spirit. An award that is well deserved!!

Members of the Wonga Park Fire Brigade were delighted to receive the news that long standing member, John Greenwood-Smith, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2026 Kings Birthday Honours List.

John has been a member of Wonga Park for over 50 years and has devoted his life in service to his Community.

We are proud to have John as a member of our brigade, the service he has given and the tutelage he provides members of all ages and experience.

Affectionately known as JGS, all members agree that this level of recognition is not only fitting, but well deserved.

Captain Aaron Farr states “A well respected award for a worthy member of the Order of Australia.”

Congratulations John Greenwood-Smith OAM

We’re incredibly proud to see Warrandyte volunteer Hugh Dugan recognised with the Chief Officer’s Unit Citation for Courage, awarded to CFA volunteers who served at Mallacoota during the 2019–20 bushfires.

As conditions rapidly deteriorated on 31 December 2019, crews faced unimaginable fire behaviour, including flames reported to be more than 50 metres high. Despite the danger, the strike team stood together and got the job done.

One strike team member commented: “There was not a single complaint, we just got the job done. My life was in their hands and I would happily trust them to do it all again.”

While Hugh was serving with South Warrandyte CFA at the time, he’s just one of many, of our large firefighting family from our community, and this recognition is so richly deserved.

Congratulations to Hugh and everyone receiving this recognition.
Your community is incredibly proud of you. ❤️
