CAR DONATIONS NEEDED

We are calling on the community for help. We are on the lookout for old, unwanted, written off or even new cars to use in our road crash rescue training exercises. These vehicles are essential for keeping us skilled and ready to respond to real emergencies on our roads.

If you or someone you know has a vehicle you no longer need whether it runs or not and you'd like to see it put to good use please send us a message. We are able to arrange collection.

Tree Down

At 7:10 am this morning our volunteers were called to a tree down on Squares Rd blocking the road. Crews worked for about 40 minutes and the road was reopened.

Assist Ambulance

At 2:43 pm our unit was activated to assist Ambulance with a difficult to access patient on a 4WD track in Nullawarre. Our members arrived on scene along with Police and Ambulance and deployed our UTV to transport in a specialist MICA paramedic along with equipment needed to treat the patient.

A decision was made to transport the patient via Air Ambulance and our members assisted loading them into the helicopter, then had to quickly transport the MICA back to the staging area to attend to another serious incident elsewhere.

Last night, instead of our usual training, Warrnambool SES was joined by members from SES Port Fairy Unit and Warrnambool CFA for a fantastic Christmas in July Trivia Night.

It was a great opportunity to put the training aside for one evening, catch up with fellow volunteers, enjoy some friendly competition, and strengthen the relationships that are so important when we work together at emergencies.

A big thank you to Todd from Times Up Trivia for hosting a fun and entertaining trivia night that kept everyone laughing.

At 9:56 am this morning our members were called to a large branch that had fallen onto a parked car on Fairy St damaging it and leaving the branch in a precarious position.

With Council also being notified they quickly organsied a tree crew working nearby to come and assist, we worked to support them in removing the branch and managing the traffic so they could work safely.

We would like to thank Deep Creek Tree Care for providing their expertise and equipment and to Council for organising them.

Road Crash Rescue

At 1:05pm today our unit was activated to a truck roll over with reported entrapment in Bushfield.

SES along with Police, CFA and Ambulance arrived on scene to find a cattle truck on its side with 1 person trapped in the cab, SES along side Ambulance and the Fire Brigade worked to help the patient out without needing to use our rescue equipment and into a waiting ambulance.

A great result and thank you to all those that turned up to help.

🚨 40 Means 40 🚨

When passing emergency vehicles displaying red and blue flashing lights, the speed limit is 40km.

Every time you fail to slow down, you're putting emergency workers at risk. We are there to help the community, please help us get home safely.

Slow down. Pay attention. 40km means 40km so we can all make it home safe to our families.

Meet Dusty, Warrnambool SES's Peer Support Coordinator. 💙🧡

His duties include boosting morale, supervising the crew, and ensuring all pats and treats are distributed fairly.

Today we thank all first responders who answer the call when their communities need them most.

And remember, even heroes need a good support dog. 🐶
