Year 7 students took part in the Road Smart KickStart incursion, an engaging and interactive road safety education program designed to help young people make safer choices on and around our roads.

As part of their Health studies, students moved through five hands-on learning stations exploring road safety across different modes of transport. Through practical activities and real-world scenarios, students developed their understanding of potential risks and the importance of making responsible decisions as pedestrians, passengers, cyclists and future drivers.

The session was made even more memorable with a visit from the Minister for Road Safety, the Hon Jessica Stojkovski MLA, who spoke with students, joined in the interactive activities and discussed the importance of making safe decisions on WA roads.

Channel 7 also attended the incursion, capturing students in action and speaking with selected students about what they had learned from the experience.

The incursion provided a valuable opportunity to bring classroom learning to life and reinforce important road safety messages that students can apply within our school and the wider community.

Last Thursday, we held our annual Whole School Athletics Carnival, and despite some tricky weather conditions, students brought great energy, enthusiasm and house spirit from start to finish. There was an event for everyone, with novelty events, athletic events and our huge Walkathon - where over 4000 laps were completed!
It was fantastic to see students and staff getting behind their houses, proudly wearing their house colours and embracing the competitive spirit throughout the day. Once again, it was Gibson who came out on top, claiming the shield for the fourth consecutive year!

Congratulations to all our Champions and Runners Up who excelled all day and prior to the carnival in pre-carnival events.
Students will now be selected for the upcoming Interschool Athletics Carnival, held on Monday, October 19th.

A huge thank you must go out to every student and staff member who made the day such a success, especially the Health & Phys Ed team who run the day with months of hard work in preparation.

πŸ’œ Wear It Purple Day - Friday 28th of August (Week 6) πŸ’œ

Warwick SHS is proud to celebrate Wear It Purple Day, a day that promotes inclusion, respect, and belonging for LGBTQIA+ young people and their allies. Every student deserves to feel safe, valued and supported to be themselves.

We encourage staff and students to get involved by wearing a purple shirt with their school uniform on Friday 28 August (Week 6). A gold coin donation is required for free-dress purple shirts, with all proceeds supporting Wear It Purple.

Students can also visit the Quad at Recess to collect a free Wear It Purple wristband and rainbow shoelace kit 🌈.

Welcome back Mr Moscarda, Miss McLearie, Mrs Murray and Mrs Clune from the School Sport Australia Games held in Victoria last week. Warwick SHS is so proud of your representation in AFL Boys 14s and Netball Girls 15s on the national stage.

Mrs Murray (Head Coach) and Miss McLearie (Assistant Coach) led the SSWA 15s Netball team to an impressive 5th-place finish.
The team put together a strong campaign, competing in several tightly contested matches, including a hard-fought draw against South Australia and a narrow six-goal loss to Queensland, who went on to claim the silver medal. They also recorded convincing wins over the Northern Territory, the ACT, and Tasmania, showcasing their skill, determination, and growth throughout the tournament.

The WA Boys AFL team led by Mr Moscarda (Head Coach) and managed by Mrs Clune, finished national runners-up.
WA topped Pool A with two wins from three games, then defeated NSW 73–43 in the semi-final. They lost the Grand Final to Victoria Navy, coming home with the silver medal.

To have four staff members from our Specialist Programs selected as State Officials is a huge testament to the calibre of staff we have in our programs. Well done team Warwick SHS!
