Throughout July, we hosted 'Mob Days' at Warrnambool, Burwood and Waurn Ponds campuses. These events were an opportunity for students to connect with student services staff and learn more about study supports available at Deakin.

At each location we engaged a local artist to lead a collaborative painting where students and staff were all encouraged to contribute. We'll share more about the finished artworks soon!

Finally we had the deadly Gammin Threads team offering t-shirt workshops for everyone who came along!

What a deadly week, with the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC keeping NIKERI's staff and students busy! To kick it off, Wathaurong Aboriginal Co Op hosted Geelong's 2026 NAIDOC Ball, followed by the Flag Raising at Booln Booln Cultural Centre. NIKERI hosted a weaving workshop to connect people through storytelling, traditional weaving, and contemporary practise. To end the week, we attended the Victorian NAIDOC Ball in the heart of Melbourne. Thank you to all organisations for creating these spaces to connect in and reflect on this year's theme; 50 Years of Deadly.

❤️💛🖤We hope you all had a happy NAIDOC Week! 💙💚

Congratulations to Aunty Lyn McInnes on your Honorary Doctorate.

Your achievements are truly remarkable.

You've set a path for others and serve as an inspiration in both academia and the community.

What an incredible role model you are for First Nations people and especially First Nations youth and students.

I loved the closing words of your speech
"Focus on the cause, not the career"
