Happy Mother’s Day!

Whether serving among us, supporting us at home, or raising our future members, Mum’s keep our battalion afloat. We couldn’t do what we do without them, and thank them endlessly.

ANZAC Day provided the opportunity for 3 HB members to pause and reflect on the service of those who came before us, as well as those who serve alongside us.

While all members attended local Dawn Services across our local regions, Adelaide based personnel were priveliged to partake in the city’s Commemorative March, and Melbourne based members once again provided the catafalque party to Bentleigh RSL’s service. CAPT Arundell delivered the keynote speech, while CAPT McLennan represented the unit in laying a wreath.

On ANZAC Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice and spirit of those who have served, and continue to serve, our nation.

Our Melbourne based personnel have been busy ensuring that their warfighting abilities remain sharp. From regular Battle PT to high-fidelity TCCC scenarios, a key focus has been maintaining a combat mindset.

Utilising their indoor skills centre, members recently practiced care under fire and patient withdrawal drills, from point of injury through to evacuation. Visual and auditory distractions added to the realism in preparing our people for the battlefield, where caring for yourself is as important as caring for others.

3 HB recently held a Family Afternoon to welcome all members and their families to the Battalion for 2026. We were lucky enough to be able to celebrate promotions, medals, farewells, and commissions amongst the people who enable our service.

Most importantly, the unit was able to provide recognition of serving members’ children through the Child of the ADF medallion.

The Battalion would like to thank the following organisations for the generous support and entertainment provided:
Defence Member and Family Support
Port Adelaide Football Club
APOD
Defence Kidz
Military and Emergency Health Services Australia
Veterans SA

Exercise Shrike Walk!

Earlier this month the Battalion conducted our first collective training exercise for the year. This saw the unit deploy to Murray Bridge Training Area to conduct range days, foundation warfighting, and a full-mission profile scenario, providing care from point of injury through to surgery.

We were lucky enough to have the Commander and RSM 2nd Health Brigade - Australian Army visit, capped off with a field promotion for LCPL Traeger, and delivery of a Bronze Commendation to MAJ George.

As always, we would not have had the success we did without the support of our surrounding units. Thanks again to:
10th/27th Battalion - The Royal South Australia Regiment
1st Armoured Regiment - Australian Army
10th Force Support Battalion - Australian Army
8th Operational Support Unit - Australian Army
