New "Hyrail" welding trucks are set to drive into action to help keep our network moving.

Through a new partnership with Aries Rail, we've just taken delivery of the first two of 11 new trucks that will transport and accommodate the welding equipment needed for maintenance works on track.

These trucks have been custom-designed to support the great work our frontline teams do to maintain a safe, resilient and reliable rail network for our customers and communities.

Check out the new murals on our signal boxes in Dubbo and Gunnedah!
Both murals have turned practical parts of the corridor into places of colour, culture and connection.
In Dubbo, you'll find Australian animals painted by Tubba-Gah Wiradjuri artist Lewis Burns at the Mitchell Highway level crossing. Over in Gunnedah, Gomeroi artist Anthony (Jack) Conlan has brought a dancing brolga to life on the Marquis Street crossing signal box.
We hope both communities love them as much as we do.

Ever wondered what’s moving on the trains that travel across Australia’s rail network?

In the past 12 months, ARTC has supported more than 155,000 freight and passenger train journeys carrying everything from consumer goods, grain, steel, cement, timber and cotton to export commodities such as coal and iron ore. Our national network also supports iconic passenger services including the Indian Pacific and The Ghan, along with regional services operated by NSW TrainLink and V/Line.

Together, these services connect Australia’s regions, cities and ports to help ensure that supermarket shelves remain stocked, exports reach global markets, and people get to where they’re going.

It’s Rail Safety Week – a reminder to always take care around railway tracks and level crossings.

Whether you're driving, walking or cycling, taking a few extra seconds at a rail crossing could save a life. So, please remember:
• Never try to beat a train.
• Always slow down, look and listen for trains.
• Always obey the signs and signals.
• Only cross when it’s safe to do so.

Take a moment to talk rail safety with your loved ones, because the choices we make around rail can have lifelong consequences. This Rail Safety Week, and every week, stay alert and stay safe around rail.

Another major rail network shutdown in the Hunter Valley is complete, with hundreds of ARTC team members and contractors working around the clock to carry out scheduled maintenance to help keep freight and passenger services moving safely and reliably. ✅

Over three days last week, crews completed works across 125 sites, including signal upgrades, track reconditioning, re-railing, rail grinding, level crossing civil works, and bridge and culvert maintenance. The completed works have led to the removal of 10 temporary speed restrictions to improve the efficiency of train operations across the NSW Heavy Haul Network. 🛤️

More reliable rail connections start with practical upgrades on the ground. At Joppa Junction, near Goulburn, our CEO Wayne Johnson joined Jenny Aitchison MP and Andrew Barr ACT Chief Minister to inspect progress on our Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities project.

The project will help reduce bottlenecks on the busy Sydney-Goulburn corridor by giving freight and passenger trains more opportunities to safely pass each other. It forms part of broader investment by the Australian Government, NSW Government and ACT Government to improve rail reliability, capacity and safety in the region, including the recently announced $100 million package of priority upgrades between Goulburn and Canberra.

Together, these investments are helping deliver a safer, more reliable and better-connected rail network for passengers and freight.

With 50 years of NAIDOC Week to celebrate, teams across ARTC marked the occasion in many different ways.

Across our 9,600km network this week, people joined NAIDOC marches, gathered for BBQs, and got hands-on with cultural learning activities including beading and weaving.

From Kaurna to Awabakal Country, up to Yuggera and Turrbal Country, and down to Wathaurong and Woiworung Country, our people came together to learn, connect and celebrate.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to learn more about First Nations histories, cultures and achievements, while recognising the Traditional Custodians of the lands we work on every day.
