🚨RECRUIT 3🚨

Finding himself along side Colby & Ryan we have our last but not least FF Toby Knight that has returned from phase training now able to jump on the truck with a smiling face to give his all for the community.
Toby is the local Gym owner and the son of a Veteran Ag pilot of Wee Waa. Since a kid Toby has wanted nothing more than being a Firefighter and formally we can say he has is now living that childhood dream.
If you see Tobe in the gym give him a high 5 from the rest of us 🤣

For the first time since 1997 Fire and Rescue NSW Wee Waa has had a full number of staff to fill the allocated positions assigned to our station and our staff could not be happier.

We will be opening up another position in the coming weeks so keep an eye out

🚨 A FIRST FOR WEE WAA 🚨

As this week wraps up we were lucky enough to have our 3 new recruits return from their phase 1 training at Armidale and are now operational and ready and eager to jump on the truck to help out the community.
Seeing our 3 recruits returning brings a pretty special moment for 506 Wee Waa. It marks the First time ever our station has had 3 generations all in the service at the same time & at the same station.
Colby Cowan is the nephew of our Deputy Captain Todd Cowan and the grandson of our Captain Bruce Cowan. A proud moment for our station and crews. We are unsure how many other stations or families have achieved this but it’s pretty special for our Station. Well done Colby and welcome aboard.

Keep an eye out for our other 2 recruits coming up

Thank you to the community that came down to IGA today for our annual open day. A huge thank you to John and his staff from IGA for the donation of the bread and sausages and Maddie from Milmar & Co Cafe for the donation of the drinks, without these donations, today wouldn’t have been possible. Great turn out and thank you to everyone that supported and made donations to Sydney children’s hospital burns unit at Westmead. A massive thank you to a local farmer who called in to grab a show bag and dropped a donation of $500 to kick things off for a great cause. $1100 in 4 hours in Wee Waa is a massive effort. If you couldn’t make it today but would like to donate there is still time just click the link below and donate away

Huge congrats to our very own Todd Cowan on his promotion to Deputy Captain! 🚒👨‍🚒
Since joining us back in September 2017, Todd has been a cornerstone of the 506 Wee Waa crew. Whether it’s local calls or jumping on strike teams to tackle fires and floods across NSW, he’s always the first to put his hand up when the state needs help.
Todd has stepped up to lead our crew many times before, so it’s only fitting that he officially stepped into the role of second Deputy Captain as of the 25th of February, 2026.
Well done, Todd! We’re proud to have you leading the way and look forward to many more years of you serving the Wee Waa community and beyond.
Cheers from all the crew at 506! 👏🔥
