The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 229 units located throughout New South Wales. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations

, the SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. The SES also assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force , the NSW Rural Fire Service , the Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW .

Last night, SES Wellington, along side RFS Mt Arthur, NSW Police and NSW Ambulance attended a road crash out near Mumbil.
As can be seen, the vehicle had ended up on its roof. The trapped person was extricated and tended to by paramedics.
Great teamwork was shown between all agencies on scene.
Drive safe out there!

So today our unit as well as members from Nyngan and Warren were graciously invited to attend FRNSW open day at the Wellington Fire Training Centre. This was a tremendous opportunity for our members to interact and engage in some meaningful training with other local agencies. Our guys teamed up with the local Fire and Rescue guys to engage in some RCR training which was extremely beneficial to all participants. Members also experienced some of the facilities and equipment at the Fire Training Centre that at times resembled a Rammstein concert while the driver training simulator proved popular with members who recognised the great value of this equipment. Special mention to D/Zone Commander Annabelle Watson who was on hand also and generously supplied cheesecake that was very well received. Overall, a good and beneficial day was had by all participants. Thanks to everyone that traveled to attend and made to day a success.
