Join us at 10:30am on Friday 4 September for a special bee-themed Storytime session. Enjoy stories, songs and a craft activity. No bookings required. Storytime is designed for children aged 3 to 6 years, and aims to develop early literacy skills in a fun and social environment.

Join us for a fascinating author talk with Maggie Walters on Tuesday 8 September from 10am to 11am. When Maggie and her partner began the long, uncertain process of adopting three children from the Philippines, motherhood arrived first as waiting; fraught with paperwork, distance, and the quiet terror of hope. By the time her children came home, motherhood became both a reckoning and a revelation. Drop by our mobile library while it visits Hat Head and Crescent Head this week!

We'll be in Hat Head on Tuesday 1 September from 11am - 12:30pm, parked in front of the Lower Macleay Anglican Church. The mobile library will also be cruising into Crescent Head on Wednesday 2 September from 9:30am - 11:30am, setting up in the Baker Drive carpark (near the Rotunda).

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Bookmark Competition, which took place in the lead up to Children’s Book Week 2026. There were so many beautiful entries, and the hard work and thought that went into each submission really impressed the judges.

AUTHOR TALK WITH SUSANNAH GLENN
We had a fantastic author talk with Susannah Glenn yesterday. Susannah spoke beautifully about what she loves about writing, including setting being its own important character, the challenges of a three-narrator storyline, and how one of her favourite characters (Moira) reflected the lives of so many of her cherished peers and of many women in society who are dealing with so much and looking for ways to reconnect with what makes their lives meaningful.

With Susannah being a local, attendees took time at the end of the event to work out who knew who, and from where, over a cup of tea or coffee (ex-babysitters, neighbours, former teachers and the like). Thank you to everyone who came along, to Collins Booksellers Port Macquarie (great work, Mady and Ellie) and a huge thank you to Susannah for the fascinating insights into her latest domestic noir novel ‘Without a Trace’.
