Once again, CHC Helicopter was incredibly proud to support Kane Vandenberg Digger Day in Nowra, a remarkable community event that has now been running for 16 years. Digger Day continues to bring together the wider community, the Australian Defence Force, veterans, and supporters to recognise service, sacrifice, and mateship.

This year's event was particularly special, with the commemoration of Michael Pratt GC, Australia's most recent recipient of the George Cross, and the privilege of welcoming members of his family to share in the occasion.

Adding to the significance of the day, Keith Payne VC, Australia's most decorated living soldier and the world's oldest living Victoria Cross recipient, was flown into Rugby Park aboard CHC Helicopter's AW139 VH-NVE. A huge thank you to Captain Leigh Sage, Captain Brandon Schmidt, and ACO Shaun Remfry for safely transporting such a distinguished guest.

The impressive guest list also included Willie Apiata VC from New Zealand and Tim Britten CV from Perth. Working in conjunction with the Royal Australian Navy, we were honoured to help ensure all distinguished guests arrived safely and in style.

Events like Digger Day are an important reminder of the strong bonds between our local communities, Defence personnel, veterans, and those who continue to serve.

A sincere thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success. We are proud to play a small part in such a meaningful event and look forward to supporting Digger Day 2027.

Today is Thank a First Responder Day, a moment to recognise those who step forward when others need help most.

Across CHC Australia, we know what it takes to deliver aeromedical, search and rescue, and critical support services in demanding environments, working alongside ambulance and emergency services, the Department of Defence, and other State and Federal agencies.

Every mission, whether a medical retrieval, rescue, or defence tasking, relies on precision, teamwork, and a shared commitment to safety and care.

While frontline crews are the most visible, they are supported by a much broader team. Engineers, operations, logistics, and corporate staff all play a critical role in ensuring aircraft are ready and missions run seamlessly, often behind the scenes.

This commitment also extends to families and loved ones, who support our people through time apart and the realities of emergency and Defence operations.

We are proud to stand alongside our partners across emergency services, Defence, and volunteer organisations nationwide. It is this collective effort that keeps communities safe.

This year’s theme, Turn Gratitude into Action, is a reminder that recognition matters.

To those in the air, on the ground, behind the scenes, and at home thank you for what you do, every day.

CHC Helicopter Australia extends its deepest condolences to Marine Rescue NSW and the Ballina community following last night’s tragic incident.

We work closely alongside our partner emergency service agencies, including Marine Rescue NSW, and our thoughts are with their members, families, and the wider community during this incredibly difficult time. We acknowledge the dedication and professionalism of the Marine Rescue NSW volunteers and all emergency service personnel who respond under challenging circumstances.

On behalf of CHC Helicopter Australia, we extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic loss. We stand in support of our Marine Rescue NSW colleagues as they grieve and continue to support one another and their community.

ANZAC Day – A Moment of Remembrance and Respect

Tomorrow, we pause to honour ANZAC Day — a day of deep significance across Australia and New Zealand. It is a time to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and service of all who have served in the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces, past and present.

At CHC and OSA, this day holds particular meaning. Many of our employees are current or former service members, reservists, or veterans. Others have family members who have served. We acknowledge the unique experiences they carry and the contributions they continue to make within our teams and communities.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all who have served, supported someone who served, or made sacrifices in the line of duty.

As we observe ANZAC Day, may we each take a moment to reflect on the values it represents — courage, mateship and perseverance and the importance of remembering those who gave so much.

Last night, a CHC Helicopter Search and Rescue crew operating from RAAF Base Williamtown conducted a night‑time rescue mission in Shark Bay in direct support of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and NSW Police.

The task required operating after dark and in challenging conditions, reinforcing the professionalism, discipline, and preparedness of our crews when responding to high‑consequence events. The mission was successfully completed through close coordination with partner agencies, highlighting the trust placed in CHC’s aviation and technical crew capability.

While CHC is proud of its long‑standing support to Defence, this mission is a strong reminder that our night SAR capability extends well beyond Defence tasking. Our crews are routinely called upon to support civil authorities and emergency response agencies, bringing specialist aircraft, highly trained personnel, and proven procedures to complex scenarios.
