UWA Liberal Club

UWA Liberal Club Western Australia's premier university Liberal Club. Since its founding, the Liberal Party has become Australia’s most successful post-war party.

The University of Western Australia Liberal Club is the oldest and most prominent Liberal Club in Western Australia. The club hosts policy debates, annual dinners, student election campaigns, and guest speaker events with members of parliament. It is an affiliate of the Australian Liberal Students' Federation, and a supporter of the International Young Democrat Union. Founded in 1944, the UWA Libe

ral Club pre-dates the Liberal Party of Australia, which was founded a year later in 1945. As with so much of the early history of the Liberal Party, the UWA Liberal Club is very much tied up with the early activities of Robert Menzies. Menzies and the founders of the Liberal Party shared a common belief that Australians should have greater personal freedom and choice than that offered under Labor’s post-war socialist plans. For an understanding of the core philosophical values of the organisation, see the Party’s ‘We Believe’ statement. WE BELIEVE:

In the inalienable rights and freedoms of all peoples; and we work towards a lean government that minimises interference in our daily lives; and maximises individual and private sector initiative

In government that nurtures and encourages its citizens through incentive, rather than putting limits on people through the punishing disincentives of burdensome taxes and the stifling structures of Labor's corporate state and bureaucratic red tape. In those most basic freedoms of parliamentary democracy - the freedom of thought, worship, speech and association. In a just and humane society in which the importance of the family and the role of law and justice is maintained. In equal opportunity for all Australians; and the encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice. That, wherever possible, government should not compete with an efficient private sector; and that businesses and individuals - not government - are the true creators of wealth and employment. In preserving Australia's natural beauty and the environment for future generations. That our nation has a constructive role to play in maintaining world peace and democracy through alliance with other free nations. In short, we simply believe in individual freedom and free enterprise; and if you share this belief, then ours is the Party for you.

📣📣 ATTENTION UWA STUDENTS 📣📣

Last year, the Albanese Labor Government made their disdain for the hardworking farmers of Western Australia very clear by banning the Live Sheep Export.

From boosting our economy and employment, to putting food on the table paddock to plate, our farming families were thanked by having their livelihoods taken from under them overnight by Labor.

Tomorrow, the Keep the Sheep Campaign will lead a convoy along the Perth CBD to encourage Labor to bin their heinous ban.

Students have often been the engine room of activism and standing up for what they believe in, and here at the UWA Liberal Club top of our minds are the farming students coming from the regions and those aspiring to work in the agricultural industry.

Stand up. Get involved. Send a message that Labor can’t wipe out our futures without a fight!

The motion being discussed at this afternoon's UWA Student Guild Special General Meeting is a disgrace.

'Pro-Palestinian' camps on Australian university campuses only serve to flair anti-Semitic attitudes and make our campuses unsafe for Jewish students.

With the news that an encampment is being established here in WA at Curtin University - supported by the Curtin Student Guild - we urge the UWA Student Guild not to endorse similar actions on our campus.

Please read our letter to the UWA Student Guild below👇
