The Seed Saving and Propagation workshop held at Holmesville Community Garden on Saturday was a great success. The rain threatened, but didn't eventuate making for very pleasant conditions.

A huge thank you to The Groundswell Collective for another entertaining and informative session that inspired many of us to save our seeds.

Our next workshop will be an Introduction to Permaculture Workshop on the 24th October at 10.00am which will be conducted by Purple Pear Farm . Booking details to follow shortly.

In case you haven't heard, big changes are being planned for our area.

The Macquarie Coal Complex Transformation Precinct Master Plan is promoting the establishment of industrial areas in Killingworth, Barnsley and Teralba. This will affect the entire area, not just those suburbs.

Now is you chance to see what is being proposed and to have your say.

Whether you support or don't support the plan, you only have until 11th August to put in your submission. Submissions work the best, but you can sign this petition if you wish. https://c.org/yPRpywjxrK

The next garden gathering at Holmesville Community Garden is on this Saturday from 9.00am. The last couple of gatherings were cancelled due to poor weather, but it looks like everything will be fine for Saturday. ☀️

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the council Green Team wasn't able to attend our site in Elizabeth st, Holmesville, yesterday.

Never fear! Our regular gathering is on this Sunday 19th July, from 9.00am.

The site continues to make great progress thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers and it is very pleasing to be able to welcome new members to the group.

For those of you who have heard about the draft master plan for the Post-mine use for Macquarie Coal (West Wallsend-Killingworth), here is a link to that plan and where you can make submissions if you wish.

There are two Community drop in sessions only at Hunter Sports Centre kaiyu nungkiliko, 43 Stockland Dr, Glendale.

Wednesday, 22 July - Anytime between 4pm and 7pm
Thursday, 23 July - Anytime between 10am and 1pm

The next gathering at Holmesville Community Garden is on tomorrow morning from 9.00am. A bit slippery under foot and look out for our pet Plover, who is currently nesting in the usual spot.
