VALE: Ivan Lee

It is with great sadness that we inform you that our brigade's oldest member Ivan Lee passed away yesterday morning, Ivan was 93 years old.

Despite his age Ivan still turned up to meetings and training nights and fascinated the younger members with his stories of the CFA in days gone by

Although Ivan and his wife Margaret moved to Myrtleford last year to be in aged care, he remained a member of our Brigade.

Ivan received his 75 Years of Service award from our brigade in 2024.

Ivan joined the CFA in 1948 at the age of 15, when he became a member of the Myrtleford brigade.

In 2017 Ivan received the Medal of The Order Of Australia (OAM) for services to the CFA.

With the current fire situation the CFA has received a number enquiries on how members of the public can donate to a specific brigade or to the CFA in general.

CFA is extremely grateful for these generous donations and fundraising efforts which will support the organisation and the important work of our brigades in protecting their communities.

How to donate? Go to the CFA web page at:

https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au

Then select the donation option in the top right had corner of the home page.

Donors can choose to donate to one of two funds using the web page link below, both of which are tax deductible (for all donations over $2).

If you wish to donate to specific brigade just select their name from a drop down list, which is in alphabetical order.

A tax-deductible receipt will be issued at the time of donation to the nominated email. Thank you for your generous support.

Have you checked Fire Danger Ratings today or checked-in on friends and family living in fire risk areas?

Wednesday will be a day of Catastrophic Fire Danger for the Wimmera and Extreme in most other parts of the State.

Now is the time to assess your situation and talk to your family about your Bushfire plan and remember, leaving early is your safest option.

https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=726206709651959&set=a.124187499853886

Leave early when the Fire Danger Rating is Extreme or Catastrophic. If you are still on your property, or in an area of high fire danger please be aware emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide not to take action when warned.

Wednesday is looking to be another day of increased fire danger, now is the time to assess your situation and review your Bushfire Plan. Consider having multiple travel routes included in your Bushfire Plan as highways and main roads can close suddenly if they are deemed too dangerous to travel on.

Continue to monitor conditions and stay informed. Never rely on a single source of information. Visit: www.emergency.vic.gov.au, download the VicEmergency app and tune into your local emergency broadcaster.
