🏡 Have your say on the future of our neighbourhood houses. 🏡

Here in Meander Valley, places like Deloraine House and Meander Valley House do quiet but vital work every day. They support people through tough times, create connection, and help our community stay strong and inclusive.

The Tasmanian Government is seeking feedback to better understand what’s needed into the future. Whether you’ve walked through their doors or simply value what these spaces bring to our towns, this is your chance to contribute.

Take a few minutes to complete the survey and make sure our region is represented.

The survey takes only 10 minutes to complete and closes on 15 June 2026.

🚧 UPDATE – Road Closure, Meander Valley Road, Exton 🚧

This post updates information provided in our 18 May 2026 road closure notice for Meander Valley Road, Exton.

📍 What:
Roadworks on Meander Valley Road, Exton, will require a temporary full closure at the culvert construction site to allow excavation across the full width of the road and installation of new stormwater culverts.

As a result, there will be no through access via Exton during the closure period, and road users travelling through the area will need to follow signed detours. Local residents will still be able to access their properties from either side of the closure via designated detours.

📅 When:
• Initial construction activities are expected to commence on Wednesday 27 May 2026, with minor traffic disruptions expected initially.
• A full 24-hour road closure will be in place from 6:00 am Thursday 4 June to 6:00 pm Friday 12 June 2026 (inclusive).

📍 Location of the roadworks:
Roadworks will take place on Meander Valley Road between Station Lane and 3916 Meander Valley Road, Exton. A map showing the road closure area is included below 👇

🚗 Traffic impacts:
• Signed detours will be in place.
• Emergency services will access all properties at all times via designated detour routes.
• Property access for residents will be maintained via signed detours.

👥 Who is impacted:
These works may affect local residents, school bus services, emergency services, public transport operators, freight and agricultural operators, and general road users. Please allow additional travel time and plan alternative travel arrangements.

🛠️ About the works:
The project involves installing reinforced concrete stormwater culverts to improve drainage.

Exton residents will receive a letter with further information, including a copy of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)https://www.meander.tas.gov.au/assets/img/site/Projects-Infra/FAQs-PN-6482-MV-Rd-Exton_25May26.pdf

For more information, contact Council on (03) 6393 5300 or email [email protected].

We thank the community for their patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.

"A bee in a flower found in my mothers garden collecting its pollen." & "Autumn’s Grace over History’s Scars Westbury Village Green."

Congratulations to Jade Muller and Stephen Kettle, winners of this month’s Community Camera Lens competition. Their photographs remind us to slow down and notice the quiet beauty around us, from golden autumn canopies to the delicate details of nature at work.

The standard was so high, we couldn't just pick one photo. We honestly wish we could have selected every submission!

Thank you to everyone who has entered the Community Camera Lens, each submission is a wonderful celebration of what makes our valley so special.
