Public Notice is hereby Given the September Ordinary Meeting of Council scheduled for Thursday 17th September 2026, will now be held on Thursday 24th September 2026 commencing at 4.00pm. Public Question time will commence at 4.05pm and limited to 15 minutes.

A major investment in social housing will see four new two-bedroom homes constructed in Westonia as part of a broader program delivering 54 modular homes across 17 Wheatbelt communities.
The Westonia development is a joint initiative supported by $10.24 million from the Australian Government through the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility and $16.96 million from the Western Australian Government. Additional financial contributions are being provided by the Central East Aged Care Alliance (CEACA) and the Shire of Westonia.
Designed with older residents in mind, the new homes will meet Silver Liveable Housing Australia standards. This will provide comfortable and accessible housing that enables residents to remain living independently in Westonia, age within their community and maintain their existing local connections.

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Town Maintenance Officer with experience in plant operation, grounds maintenance and general civil works. This position will suit someone with a strong safety focus, a proactive attitude and pride in delivering high-quality maintenance outcomes for the community.
The Town Maintenance Officer is responsible for the maintenance, presentation and upkeep of Shire assets, including but not limited to:
โ€ข Parks, gardens, ovals and public open spaces
โ€ข Road reserves and town infrastructure
โ€ข Operation and care of plant and equipment
โ€ข Slashing, mowing (including oval mowing), and general grounds maintenance
โ€ข Supporting waste services and other operational activities as required
Attractive conditions of employment are offered inclusive of service payments, with matching superannuation contributions and other benefits. Suitable housing can be arranged if required.

The Shire of Westonia would like to formally extend their appreciation to Lotterywest, Mukinbudin Community Bendigo Bank , CBH, Collgar Wind Farm, the National Men's Shed Development Programme and the broader community for their financial support of the new Community Hub Development at the old Westonia Primary School site.

The official opening of the Community Hub is proposed to take place on 16 October 2026 to be followed by a โ€˜Night at the Museumโ€™ Street Party. More details to come shortly.
