Last Thursday a group of us had a fantastic visit and round at Bamawm Golf Club. A great day was had by all, the course was in prime condition with a lot of run and well tended sand scrapes - and no steep hills to contend with! We were made very welcome by them and special thanks to Kieran & Leon for opening the bar and joining us on the course. Afterwards we headed to The Local 3561 in Rochester where we enjoyed a delicious meal and comfortable accommodation. Big thank you to Kate & Trav for their hospitality - we’ll be back.

Well done to Dan Shanahan, who was in great form to win our stroke competition on Sunday, just edging out Greg Rosser by the smallest of margins.

Competition golf continues on Wednesday at 1.30 with $500 on offer for a hole in one on the 9th. Why not come and give it a go? The course is looking fantastic and the weather is superb for a round!

We’re adding a little extra excitement to competition days! Nail a hole-in-one on the 9th hole during official play and you’ll score a $500 prize.

The weather is perfect, enjoy a great round, and who knows? You might just have the shot of the day! Our comps are at 1.30 every Sunday and Wednesday.

Huge thank you to everyone who played and supported our Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal golf day. With all entry fees and some donations we raised $480. The weather was perfect, the course was in good nick (and challenging as always) and the valley was buzzing with campers and tourists enjoying the beautiful serenity. We had 19 competitors in our 3 person Ambrose event with our Geelong visitors, the chicks with sticks, Carli, Fiona and Noelene taking the honours. We also welcomed Pete (whose amazing drive on the 5th blitzed the field and landed 1m from the scrape) & Jake from Geelong as well as Caitlin from Torquay, who was wrapt to have a NTP & birdie on the 4th. Well done also to one of our local new to golf players Billie Davies who also birdied the 4th and landed on on the 9th. Well coached Boof!

Reminder that now daylight savings has ended Wed & Sun golf will revert to 1.30pm hit off.

A reminder we are holding a 3 person Ambrose on Good Friday with entey fees donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Hit off at 10am, anyone can turn up and we will put you to in a team if you don’t have one. Entry is $20.

Our final night of the chook run was completed last night in the form of a shoot out on the 9th hole where each player had 3 attempts at NTP to win the big $$. Sometimes we have to have up to 5 rounds before someone lands on and sometimes we have to give up when it gets too dark. This year it could have been all over in the first round when Josh Trimble landed on. 2nd round came and Alistair Graham then landed on followed by Robyn Hogan. The tape measure was called for and it was looking good for Robyn. Round 3 and the 2nd last competitor hit an absolute gem and Pete Christison took home the bacon and the bragging rights (and the cash!). We followed that up with the presentation of the 2025/26 Ivan Fulton Chook Run Champion which was won by Robyn Hogan. We then adjourned to the wonderful Mountainview Hotel for a meal a few drinks. Big thanks to all who played and helped with organsing throughout the season.

Our chook run final round of comp tonight was won by Guenter Nicholls with Pete Christison r/up. Guenter was also NTP on the 4th, though by all accounts his shot wasn’t great off the tee, hitting a sprinkler head and pinging onto the scrape at great speed before being pulled up by the backstop!

Our 9th hole is notoriously hard to land on. A short par 3, only around 100m, if you land left the ball bounces left, if you land right the ball bounces right, if you land short the couch grass pulls it up short. So to land on and then sink the putt for a birdie is rare. We were thrilled that our youngest member, 7 yr old Parker Trimble did this playing comp on Sunday, what an awesome effort!! Well done Parker.

Our second last chook run for this season was won by Josh Trimble who was also NTP on the 4th. Hot on his heels and r/up was Robyn Hogan. As usual there was some good golf and some not so good golf, and lots of lamenting and if only! Next week is our last round before the final night shoot out for the big bucks on 1st April followed by dinner and presentation at the Mountain View Hotel.

Winner of the chook this week was Ned O’Kane who blitzed the field to cruise home 5 points clear of r/up Helen Stanyer. Ned also had NTP on the 4th and was unlucky to land on the 9th but his playing partner Dan Shanahan landed closer to elbow him out. Well done Dan. Special mention to our youngest member, 7 year old Parker Trimble who played with his first set of new clubs this week. He’s on the improve and super keen, watch this space!
