"we are deeply saddened by the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and President of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). We are shocked by her death, We also know that the entire Bangladeshi community in Australia is deeply shocked by her departure, and we pray for her soul. We offer our full respect for her legacy of democracy and her contributions to Bangladeshi politics in establishing and strengthening democracy. She fought for democracy for a long time, even while under detention for many years. We hope that Bangladesh will honor her legacy and respect her democratic movement always. We are hopeful that, in tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh will once again reestablish a democratic system after this long period. May her soul rest in peace."
