🔥 Planning a Burn? Read This First 🔥

NSW RFS is reminding landowners to take a moment before lighting up:
✅ You are required to notify NSW RFS and your neighbours at least 24 hours prior to burning.

This is a simple step that helps avoid unnecessary emergency responses and keeps everyone informed.

🔥 Don’t forget:
• A Fire Permit is required during the Bush Fire Danger Period
• Always burn safely and in suitable weather conditions

🚨 If a burn hasn’t been notified, it may be reported as a fire—resulting in crews being dispatched and possible penalties.

We would like to congratulate ebony on completing and passing her fire fighter training and becoming willawarrin brigade's newest member of the team.
She has been training very hard and it showed on the day preforming exceptionally well.

Launch of RFS Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.

Last month, the RFS celebrated Reconciliation Week by releasing our Innovate RAP. Our RAP reinforces our commitment to stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through meaningful actions that create volunteering and employment opportunities, build respect and embed Culture into fire management practices.

A reminder to all landowners planning to burn:
✅ In NSW, you must notify the NSW Rural Fire Service and your neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting any fire.

This can be done quickly and easily online using the NSW RFS “Notify Me” system.

Notifying helps:
• Prevent unnecessary emergency call-outs
• Keep fire crews informed of your activity
• Ensure community safety

🚒 Join a NSW Rural Fire Service Support Brigade 🚒

Want to support your local community but don't see yourself riding on a fire truck?

The NSW Rural Fire Service Lower North Coast District is seeking volunteers to join our Support Brigades across the Kempsey and Nambucca Valley local government areas.

Support Brigade members play a vital role in helping our operational firefighters and emergency services. They assist with a range of activities including:

☕ Catering and refreshments at incidents and training events
📦 Logistics and resource support
📝 Administration and communication support functions
🎪 Community engagement and public events
🤝 Supporting emergency operations during major incidents (aviation, bulk water, remote area etc)

Our Support Brigades are made up of people from all walks of life who want to make a difference in their community. Whether you can spare a few hours a month or are looking for a new way to get involved, there is a role for you.

No experience is necessary. Flexible training and support are provided, and you'll become part of a dedicated team of volunteers helping communities across the Lower North Coast.
