🔥 Grass Fire – Willigobung Rd Response 🔥

Yesterday afternoon, Willigobung RFS responded to a grass fire on Willigobung Road.

A strong turnout of RFS Volunteer members ensured the fire was quickly brought under control, preventing further spread and protecting nearby properties.

This incident marked the first call-out for the new Willigobung Cat 1 appliance, which performed exactly as intended.

Thank you to all volunteers who responded promptly and worked effectively to contain the incident.

As conditions remain warm and dry, please stay vigilant and report any signs of fire immediately to 000.

Well done to everyone involved.

🚨🔥 DELIVERY UPDATE – NEW RIG INCOMING! 🔥🚨

Hold onto your helmets, legends — Willigobung RFS has been told our brand new Category 1 Tanker is on its way! She’s set to roll into town around late September, and let’s just say…

We're going to be out here like:

👢 “Three-quarters fire-fighting, one-quarter water-cartin', 100% NEW TRUCK GOOFIN’” 💃🚒

Big shoutout to everyone who's helped make this happen — this new rig will be a huge boost to our response capability, especially after what our patch has been through in recent years.

We’ll post some photos (and maybe some questionable cowboy dancing) when she lands. Stay tuned! 🤠

‼️3.55pm Friday 24 January 2025 BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED‼️
URGENT BATLOW BOIL WATER NOTICE - MONDAY 20 JANUARY 2025 12pm
Batlow residents are advised to boil their town tap water prior to drinking or use bottled water until further notice due to a treatment plant process failure. Please share this message with family, friends and neighbours in the Batlow community.
Consuming un-boiled drinking water may potentially lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (e.g. those who are very young, elderly or immune compromised).
Council advises that low chlorine water has been supplied into the water network as a result of a treatment plant process failure.
Council staff are working closely with Health NSW to resolve the situation as soon as possible and additional testing is being undertaken until the situation is resolved.
People should use cooled boiled water or bottled water for:
• drinking
• brushing teeth
• washing and preparing food or beverages
• preparing baby formula
• making ice
• bathing infants
Un-boiled drinking water can be used for:
• showering and bathing other than infants (but minimise water in the mouth)
• washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher, provided dishes are air-dried
• washing clothes
• flushing toilets
Always bring drinking water to the boil and then allow the water to cool before using or storing it in a clean, closed container for later use. Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable for producing boiled water. Variable temperature kettles should be set to boil.
Anyone concerned about their health is advised to contact their local medical professional.
This boil water notice will stay in effect until Council staff and NSW Health are confident there is no public health concern.
Updates will be provided on Council’s page and website.

As part of the on-going improvements to our facilities the State Mitigation Crew will be conducting burning to remove excess fuels. This will assist in both improving safety for our volunteers and reducing the overall fuel loads as we move into another fire season 🔥🇦🇺

Weather Permitting- Our Mitigation Crew will be conducting a small pile burn adjacent to NSW RFS - Willigobung Brigade station tomorrow as part of our Asset Protection Program.

Location is on Batlow Road directly opposite of Willigobung Road between Laurel Hill and Tumbarumba.
