Rules of Engagement
In joining our community on Facebook, Windang Public School follows both the Department of Education Code of Conduct and Facebook terms and conditions. Students
Please note that the Facebook terms and conditions state that no one under the age of 13 years should have a Facebook profile. Therefore, any primary students who 'Like' or comment on the Windang Public School page will have their post deleted and profile reported immediately. Posting, Tagging or Naming Student Photos
Photos of students are posted with reference to Department of Education publishing permission forms, completed through the school. For children's privacy and protection, please do not tag photos of children, and please do not name them your comments. On rare occasions and with parental permission, students may be named by the school FB admin team. Tagging of parents or friends within the comment box is permitted, with the understanding that all other rules of engagement are followed. Comments Policy
Windang Public School encourages interaction from Facebook users but is not responsible for comments or wall postings made by visitors to the page. Comments posted also do not in any way reflect the opinions or policies of Windang Public School. Windang Public asks that people making comments on the page show respect for their fellow users by ensuring the discussion remains civil, especially since Facebook allows individuals 13 and over to join. All comments should be constructive and reflective of a primary school context. Comments are also subject to Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. Remember that your name and photo will be seen next to your comment, visible to the tens of thousands of visitors to the page. We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to remove comments that are racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene, spam, that advocate illegal activity, contain falsehoods or are wildly off-topic, or that libel, incite, threaten or make attacks on Windang Public School students, employees, guests or other individuals. We also do not permit unsolicited messages selling products or promoting commercial, political or other ventures. Facebook encourages all users to utilize the "Report" links when they find abusive content. Friending Staff on Facebook
Please note that the Department of Education has this advice for teachers 'Friending' parents on Facebook:

The line between your professional and personal life could become blurred making it difficult to manage your professional relationship with the parents when that becomes necessary. You also need to bear in mind that becoming a Facebook friend with a parent could result in their children getting access to your account as well. You also need to be mindful that you need to be careful what you say on Facebook if you have parents as friends as comments made online can be misunderstood and could result in parental complaints made to your principal. In short, please do not ask to friend a member of staff on Facebook as refusal often offends. Administrators

Please remember that our FB administrators volunteer their personal time to keep our community updated on events, successes and school and community news. The Admin team are not responsible for decisions made at a School or P&C Association level. If you have an inquiry or concern about a P&C or school issue, email [email protected] and your message will be forwarded to the relevant contact.

It was beautiful weather for Shellharbour City Council’s Annual Reconciliation School Flag Walk today. We proudly joined schools from across the city, walking alongside Elders, families and community members to acknowledge the importance of reconciliation and our shared commitment to building stronger relationships and understanding. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn, reflect and stand together in the spirit of respect, unity and hope for the future.

Windang Public School proudly performed in the South Coast Dance Festival on Thursday and Friday night. Our item was inspired by Damien Leith's children's novel The Extraordinary Misadventures of Lake and Birdy and Their Remarkable Fortitude. Choreographed by Miss Mia Davis, our item Fortitude told a story of courage and strength.

This was a truly special experience for our students, who were involved in the creative process and had the opportunity to bring a meaningful story to life on stage. We are incredibly proud of the commitment, teamwork, and enthusiasm they displayed throughout the journey and know they have created memories that will last a lifetime.

We also thank the South Coast Dance Festival team and our mentor, Glenda Cameron, for their support throughout this experience.

A huge thank you to Belle's Mum, Renee Martin, for the many hours she spent creating our gorgeous costumes and accessories, and to Miss Gillespie for her support and assistance backstage throughout the festival🌟

Just magical! Full story in today’s paper!

What a magical performance! A huge congratulations to Miss Davis for bringing Damien Leith's The Extraordinary Adventures of Lake and Birdy and Their Remarkable Fortitude to life. Thank you to Mrs Martin for the many volunteer hours she dedicated to altering costumes and creating all the beautiful hair bows, and to Mrs Gillespie and Mrs T for their support behind the scenes. A special thank you to our families for supporting the early morning rehearsals and show week.

Windang Public School photographed with author Damien Leith, whose book inspired their performance Fortitude. How special to have Damien Leith in the audience to see the students perform and a photo with the school !
