Last night was a great night for our brigade. On the 12th of April Wingello brigade was first on scene for a car accident with multiple occupants trapped. The Wingello crew worked alongside multiple other services to extract and help everyone get to hospital.

Last night 2 of the occupants who are recovering came down to the station to say thanks and update us on their condition. It was so great to see them recovering and hear of their bravery and strength as they recover.

Many times we attend incidents and never know how things ended up for the people we helped. Last night was a joy to see the results of the brigades efforts and how great the girls are doing.

Important information for our local residents around permit requirements and burning locally.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Official Bush Fire Danger Period will conclude at midnight tomorrow (31 March 2026) for the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council LGA's.

From Wednesday 1 April, fire permits will no longer be required for residents, except those properties within the town limits of Warragamba, Picton, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Bowral and Bundanoon, who are required to obtain a fire permit from Fire & Rescue NSW all year round.

Even though a fire permit is no longer required, you must still notify your neighbours and the local fire authority 24 hours before burning as well as comply with any Council Backyard Burning Policies.

Before lighting up, you should also check the forecast weather conditions and have sufficient equipment on hand to control and contain the fire to your own property. Failure to notify neighbours or the RFS, or allowing a fire to escape can result in significant fines.

To notify of your intent to burn, use the online burn notification tool at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify or call your local Fire Control Centre during business hours.

Vic Fires
- Delta Deployment

On Tuesday the 20th of January, two of our members, Mazz and Carlyle joined up with other members from the District and around the State to assist the Country Fire Authority (CFA) with their efforts to combat the fires around Central Victoria. In particular ‘Longwood Fire’.

The blaze burned through nearly 140,000 hectares of land in north east Victoria and its perimeter stretched out to over 370 kilometres at its longest. Tragically, the fire claimed hundreds of homes, thousands of animals and one human life.
Mansfield Shire Council

After a briefing at the Incident Control Centre (ICC) in Seymour (and a coffee with the wonderful people at Gnarly Neighbours - Seymour) we headed into the Longwood Fireground to ensure that the roads were clear enough for the local bus to deliver the kids when school starts again. We extinguished burning stumps and smoking logs.
Later finding ourselves in very steep terrain to extinguish a burning tree that was visible by the Hume Freeway.
We then returned to Puckapunyal Military Area (Pucka) for a meal and sleep. The only other agency sharing the accommodation was VicPol.
We continued working on Moss Vale 1 with Icy from Moss Vale Rural Fire Brigade, under the leadership of Barbra from Silverdale Rural Fire Brigade and with guidance of Jamie Francis from the CFA - moving through paddocks to gain access into more remotes areas to extinguish smokers on the edge of the ‘black and the green’. From there, we responded to a running grass fire in a farm at Terip Terip. The landholders (also CFA) members were very grateful for our efforts. Another long day.
Finally we did more work to ensure that roads were clear enough for access into areas for the upcoming Australia Day holiday makers on their pilgrimage to Bonnie Doon. Mainly cutting large timber that was still smouldering. Only taking a breather long enough to get some cherries kindly donated by Koala Cherries. We then moved on to work a peat fire - later responding to a running grass fire behind the Alexandra Golf Course.

Our RFS Logistics Officer, in conjunction with the CFA was very generous in shouting us a fabulous feed at the Prince of Wales Hotel Seymour

Shout out to our Strike Team Leader, Kate, her driver and scribe, Chris, members from the Northern Beaches and the crews from New England, Lightning Ridge Rural Fire Service &
