🚨 Have at least one smoke alarm in all living areas, hallways and bedrooms.
🚨 Interconnected smoke alarms - if one alarm activates, all smoke alarms sound.
🚨 Test your smoke alarm once a month by pressing and holding the test button until it sounds.
🚨 Vacuum the dust off your smoke alarm every 6 months.
🚨 Replace the battery (if it is alkaline) every year.
🚨 Replace the whole alarm every 10 years

Smoke Alarm Action Day 🚨

Working smoke alarms save lives ‼️

A working smoke alarm halves the risk of fatality in a home fire. Yet, alarmingly, nearly half of the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm. We all share the same goal —protect life.

Last year, nearly half the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm! Be smart and take part in Smoke Alarm Action Day, and test your smoke alarm works! A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).

St Florian (c. 250–304 AD) is best known as the patron saint of firefighters, chimney sweeps, and brewers. A high-ranking officer in the Roman army, he is celebrated for his bravery and unwavering faith, often depicted in art as a Roman soldier pouring water from a pitcher onto a fire. His feast day is 4 May, which is also observed as International Firefighters' Day to honour his legacy of service and sacrifice.
Today we remember those that have gone above and beyond in the line of duty in service of their communities.
